Breakaway Ruminations #5 – How TV Robs You Of Life & Valuable Time

Individuals go on through their lives, following their daily endeavors in many different fashions.  People from all walks of life take a variety of paths which follows what they see as best choice in their life.  The one commonality that we each have individually is that we are blessed to have ample amount of time.

Time is quite an interesting concept.  As a thought-form, time brings about a kaleidoscope of different ideas.  Time is often correlated with work, appointments, deadlines, key dates, precious moments, and many other instances.  Because of this, time is valued to some extent by everyone, even if we don’t inherently ruminate upon this regularly.

Curiously though, because we are lucky enough as individuals to have a lot of time, we often have blatant disregard for it in one sense or another.  Everyone, including myself, usually takes time for granted because most people live long lives and we are lucky to have it every day.

Speaking of time, the average person watches 5 hours of TV per day with some watching even more than that.  At 5 hours per day, that amounts to 1,825 hours per year. That is 18250 hours per decade, and 91,250 hours per 50 years. That’s a lot of time! Over the course of 50 years, the total amount of time spent watching TV daily amounts to 3802 consecutive 24-hour days over that span.  Or “just” 5 hours a day, for 50 years.

For the sake of simplicity, let us assume most of us happen to get 8 hours a day sleeping. In an entire 168 hour work-week where the average person spends 56 hours a week sleeping, and 40 hours a week working, that leaves one with 72 hours free. If one were to spend 35 hours a week viewing television, then that would leave 37 hours of free time. That’s nearly half of all of one’s available time spent watching television. That seems ludicrous, does it not?  That doesn’t even begin to cover other activities individuals may carry out.

The point of bringing this is up is that, even though many people tend to think they “don’t have any time” to do constructive things [i.e. take better care of their health], my rebuttal to that is that, in fact most [if not all] do.  Even the busiest people on earth can learn to rearrange their schedules to be more efficient, especially if time is being used watching TV or meandering about aimlessly online.

Everyone will have different reasons for how they individually spend their time, and how much time they spend doing what they do, and that’s really their own business.  This post isn’t about judging people, but about self-analysis and ruminating upon the possibility of addressing misconception of individuals not having enough time, which seems to be an illusion to certain extent.

Ponder this: what would you do if you only had one month left to live?  Think about it seriously.

The fact this post is being read by you shows that by that very fact you have lived many years, and yet not all species have that opportunity, or are that lucky.  Some animals, in fact, do not live long at all, when compared to human years.

Butterflies, on average, only live one month.  Their entire life span narrows onto one month.  Sure, many will say that “but they’re a different species” and “time is relative” and those assertions would be right, but one thing is sure: even with magnitudes more of free time than butterflies, nearly half of all free time seems to be wasted, unless for some odd reason watching TV is so valuable that one need invest nigh half of all their free time doing it.

Let’s ruminate further.  Think about when someone presses pause on a movie.  Think upon that for a really long time.  After quite a while, wouldn’t the screen seem lifeless, like there’s nothing going on?  No movement, no change – nothing.  For one to notice the signatures of life there has to be change, motion, cycles, ebbs and flows and much more.

Now, when someone sits on a couch, for hours, days on end, doesn’t it seem antithetical to the very nature of all living organisms?  Doesn’t life move?  Doesn’t life experience?  Doesn’t life change?  If sitting nigh half your time, which is extremely bad for your health for what it’s worth and ironically robs you of your time, is to be seen as a symbol for life, then what does that say of a large portion of society?

Our ancestors conquered movement, doing incredible things that most people couldn’t imagine now days.  But these days, not only do some people “have no time,” but they don’t even exercise when their health depends on it.  Was guilty of this myself at a time, but no more.

Thankfully, life gave me a few chances to be able to learn from past mistakes, and after severe bouts with disease I took control of my life, instead of letting life control me.

My main thought at the time was: what would I do if 50 years from now, when looking back at life with one foot out the door, someone told me I had wasted thousands of hours throughout my life?  I know I’d have an ocean of regret, if not more.  That would crush my soul even more than the fact that I was going to miss those I loved very much.  I would be thinking how much more time I could have had with the people I loved.  I would do anything – ANYTHING – for merely one more hour, or even minutes when my loved ones.

Being able to spend one more moment with someone you love is precious.  Imagine being able to spend hundreds of hours more, or even thousands, over the course of a lifetime?

Why wait, and why not start now?

After all, the time is there for the taking.

And we all have it.  Until we don’t.

Ghosts Within The Matrix

It can be seen nigh everywhere: people going through life, but not living life.

On sidewalks, people – especially teens – meander about paying attention to the phone, often times crashing into others with no semblance of reality or of manners for that matter.

On buses, people barely communicate anymore.   People are glued to their phones, Ipads, and the like, foregoing any conversations with actual human beings.

In restaurants, what used to be a portentous conversation with friends ends up being a facsimile fest with 5 people all around one table, all of them on the phone, and nothing of substance taking place.  Can’t say how many times the exact scenario has panned out.

In homes, people spend nigh 5 hours watching tv, while others spend countless more gaming, showing what a parody ‘quality time’ has turned into – if there’s any at all!

And one wonders where humanity’s humaneness has all but disappeared.

Through the use of Television, Phones, Computers and the like, Life itself has truly transformed into a spectator sport.

Regarding this, notable and outspoken critic of the public school system John Taylor Gatto, which has been largely responsible for socially engineering this very issue, had this today:

“Nightmare children are all about us; diseased by our indifference; some have capacity to heal themselves, most don’t.  These are nightmare children, I say; no vital interests, creatures trained to organize their time around spasms of excitement and amusement, or escape from punishment.  The maps they carry of the roads ahead are false.  The most curious commentary on these kids is the thousands of hours they spend in not exploring, not playing, not seeking opportunities for personal gain – but in watching other people on television, in music videos and computer games.”

“Sane children would never do this – the arc of anyone’s life is too short to accept passivity and fantasy to this degree.  Conjure with these numbers: in families where the husband and wife have never been divorced, and where the wife doesn’t work, the index of spectatorship – TV and otherwise – drops to one tenth the big-city average.

The institution you and I work for creates addiction.  It addicts children to prefer thin abstraction and dull fantasies to reality.”[1][Italics Emphasis In Original.  Bold Emphasis Added.]

Seeing this disturbing trend, what is next in this matrix-like reality?

Decades ago, if you would tell people that the above examples were not only true, but would increase with frequency every single year, they would have given you an askance glance. Heck, if you told them that the average person in America spending 5 hours watching tv, would be spending 1,825 hours per year doing something that was almost never productive, they would have thought you downright insane.

What’s taking place at an enormous level is that notion of true [organic] life itself, our tangible reality, is being replaced wholesale by an actual construct – a matrix – that’s woven an intricate web of distraction which seeks to overtake the individual and plug their consciousness into a larger system.

When this takes place, as aptly explained in the Matrix, when Morpheus told Neo, it’s hard for the individual to become free.

And perhaps it’s just like Morpheus elucidated in the Matrix explained:

“You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it.”

More keen words, for the current state of the word, might have never been spoken.

As a society, we are gaining technology at a monumental level.

But as individuals, we are losing ourselves at a more increasing rate.

Individuals on the outside always view these disturbing trends much easier than those who are still caught within the web of distraction.

Whether its health, money, work, or other, there’s people all over the world endlessly running on the hamster’s wheel thinking they’re going somewhere when the reality is totally opposite.  Ironically, all they have to do is step away, and just as so, the wheel stops turning, the Matrix begins dissolving.

Once an individual reaches an incisiveness in understanding the system for what it really is, their awareness reaches a truly lucid moment of reality – a moment of true freedom.  Once the system-imposed shackles are seen for the joke that they are, reality not only becomes much more tangible, but it also becomes more meaningful rather than the parody that is the Matrix.

To achieve this total awareness is the key, for the moment the individual realizes their true nature, their individual power of always being centered and aware, they will be ready to walk away from that which seeks to harvest their health, their money and their time.

The reality that’s projected at us is merely a cartoon-like version of what’s really out there.  The moment individuals see the true strands of reality, and not the BS that is peddled by the system in its endless media, is the moment individuals see reality for the first time, just like an individual who never wore a pair of glasses is able to lucidly see what the world truly is like once they put them on.

Reality is vastly greater than the perspectives individuals are allotted by all forms of mainstream media.

The individual that realizes how the system truly operates is the individual that doesn’t need the grid; it’s the individual who seeks their own solutions; it’s the individual that realizes that the left right divide & conquer paradigm is designed to keep us trapped, like a rat in a maze; it’s the individual that notices bullshit when they see it, and aren’t afraid to call it for what it is, even if it comes from mainstream media.

A vibrant and ruminating mind is an active consciousness, and thus translates to a strong individual.

And a strong individual that employs self-awareness, logic, and reason, is unstoppable.

Yet, the mind, like a seed, can only reach such a state when cared for properly.

The mind is like a mirror; if garbage is what the mind is being shown then garbage is going to be what it reflects.

It’s a great time to be alive.  Possibilities abound.

Imagination is helping people realize new solutions.

Curiosity is fanning the flames of creativity in many ways.

Regardless, our environment – our societal ecosystem – is what we make of it.

Find those that support you.  Seek those that understand, or attempt to, and speak with those that do not.  Strive for understanding, or at least for common ground upon which to build a better future.  See the divide and conquer games for the con games they are, and let the comptrollers play their own damn games.  Don’t buy into it.

Keep an eye out for the societal parasites that seek to zap all your energy, but don’t let it ruin your awareness.

And worry not, for the more the system gets exposed for what it is, the faster it dissipates, like the darkness when the sun rises.

And there’s no greater light that shines, than the individual that radiates authenticity.

Breakaway Guide To Simplifying Your Life

Upon musing a bit about the term ‘simplicity’ it occurred to me to search for the term “Law of Simplicity”. There were many tips on simplifying everything, and countless permutations of the idea in various ways, but no actual law [that was apparent to me] that could be easily shared. If anyone finds a solid ‘simple’ [pun intended] then please share it with us, as its pertinent to the focus of this blog.

Let’s get to the core of the issue: simplicity.

Two definitions according to dictionary.com are:

“the state, quality, or an instance of being simple.”

“freedom from complexity, intricacy, or division into parts.”

Pretty straight forward, right?

For our purposes we will distil it one step further for the purposes of this blog and say: to keep things as simple and as practical as possible. Simple.

You must be asking yourself, why are we even talking about this topic? Great question.

Because depending on what point of view one uses, and in this case we’ll use a detached-macro point of view of society as a whole, then it’s pretty obvious people tend to complicate their lives way more than they should.

These complications seep into every aspect of an individual’s life, and end up taxing them in countless way.

Are people even cognizant of it? Some definitely are; however, many are not.

Here are what some incisive minds have stated about keeping things simple:

Its quite noteworthy that such individuals engaged in this particular thought process. It alludes to the importance of this topic.

Keeping the above insights in mind, what are some aspects of life that people tend to complicate?

Relationships, food, health, politics, etc.

Relationships? That should be an obvious one, and one everyone can relate too. Let’s distill this in its most simplest form.

If someone – be it a lover, friend, acquaintance, etc – in a relationship treats you like trash, all the time, or heck, most of the time, then they’re probably definitely not worth your time/energy. Bam. Simple. No excuses. Once you start justifying the erroneous actions of others as righteous [for whatever] reason, or giving them excuses, when it’s obvious they just don’t truly care [if they did, they wouldn’t be treating you like crap, all the time], you’re doing yourself a world of disservice.

It doesn’t matter if they are family or not. In fact, family members in many situations get away with everything AND the kitchen sink because they are family. Remember, putting up with their bullshit is a choice. No excuses. Keep it as simple as you wish, or as complicated.

Next on the menu, food.

Food? Why food? Because eating things that are a poor excuse for food, only makes things complicated.

If you don’t believe me, look at the epidemic of diseases that’s rampant costing hundreds of thousands of lives due to many reasons, a strong one being food. Why food? Because much of food is laden with toxins such as fluoride, aspartame, GMOs, etc. Each of those by itself can cause diseases. When taken in combination, which most people do, it’s a toxic free for all and your health is on the menu.

How to simplify this? Easy. Eat the best, most healthy food that you can. Nourish your body with that which empowers it.

Health being the most vital component in life, let’s elaborate further to be more precise.

Researching Non-Genetically modified, organic, locally grown [if possible] pesticide free food is a good great start. Making sure you drink fluoride-free water is even better.

Many can attest to the wonders of having real, nutrient-dense food like our ancestors did. A great book that talks about this is The Paleo Approach by Sarah Balantyne. Coupled with that, another outstanding book to keep in mind is Gut & Psychology Syndrome, by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD. The latter book touches on the intricate complexities of the human gut system, and how that fuels disease when your microbiota has been eviscerated by processed foods.

Why is ‘going out of your way’ [as some people argue] to eat real food worth it? Because not doing it is costing millions of lives. Sugar alone, which most people have in processed foods, fuels cancer like liquors fuel parties on the weekends. It’s insane how many people don’t know the inflammatory effects of sugar. That’s only one aspect of food that causes death. There are many more ingredients beyond sugar that should be incisively contemplated.

Unfortunately, sugar has been linked to countless other diseases.

In the article, The Truth About Sugar Addiction, Dr. Mercola sheds light onto 76 different ways sugar can ruin your health.

As a wise person once said, you pay for your health now with real food, or you pay for it later with disease, money and life.

Next on the list, is health.

One might be prompted to think , ‘Didn’t we just cover health?’ From the food angle, yes. From other angles, no.

Food already dovetails quite well into health. That’s only a start. Let’s buttress the above with another point.

As said mentioned elsewhere:

If the average person spends 5-hours daily watching television, then they are probably sitting too much. Sitting too much has dire consequences for one’s health, as some of you may know.

In his article named Watching Too Much TV Linked To Early Death, Dr. Mercola elucidates best:

If you watch television for three or more hours a day, your risk of premature death is double that of someone who watches only one hour or less, according to new research published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.1 The health risks of too much sedentary behavior, including too much sitting, are now widely known.” [Bold emphasis added]

If you want more information about that, please read Dr Mercola’s article cited above. It’s quite detailed and thought-provoking, if sobering.

The above information should be enough to make people contemplate deeply about the health choices they are making. Keep in mind, we’re only talking about sitting and watching TV.

Solution? Stay active. No complicated suggestions here. Just do anything that gets you moving, and bam, you’re health is better than it was if you’re remaining stagnant.

Lastly, politics.

Boy oh boy, where can’t we go here?

In interest of simplicity, let’s synthesize this to the most simplest form.

If a scoundrel politician – regardless of whatever party they are from – lies, they shouldn’t be trusted. If they are caught being bought-off by special interest, they shouldn’t be trusted. And of course, if they are caught stealing, they should not be trusted. No exceptions. What’s so hard about that?

Blind trust of those that throw y/our interests under the bus, each and every day is exactly how we got here in the first place.

When people are not held accountable, they will unleash crimes of godlike proportions. Just look at Wall Maul Street.

In a quick synopsis:

If someone treats you poorly, let them go. Eat real non-GMO organic healthy foods like our ancestors did, if not your life/health will become exponentially complicated. Quit sitting so much while watching TV & don’t trust lying crooks. Solid advice, right?

Simple.

To finalize, within the confines of this blog, ‘the law of simplicity’ will be used to denote instances where we will be making issues as simple as possible for the individual. In such a way, life will be much easier to navigate through, and things that used to be chaotic will literally crumble right before your eyes. Many have reaped these rewards. It’s time for everyone else to do so as well.

The only thing left is making the choice.

Make your life as simple as you wish, or as complicated.
