Robert Scott Bell calls this one of the pharmaceutical and doctor industry’s biggest scams. Find out why one of the most commonly prescribed drugs are even around and what some of the long-term effects are that you aren’t told about.

Only 1-in-10 drugs prescribed are brand name, yet they account for majority of spending

A new research paper published in JAMA points out a harrowing fact: Brand name drugs are prescribed 10 percent of the time, but they account for 72 percent of the total cost paid for pharmaceutical drugs in the US.

This is a prime example of the rigged American medical system, where people are being monetarily preyed upon. Worse yet, the excess billions of dollars reaped by price gouging consumers are used to promote the drugs to even greater extents, through the media or directly to doctors. In this way, Americans are never introduced to effective, evidence-based medicine.

Rigged medical system

Brand name drugs penalize consumers because of market exclusivity. Pharmaceutical manufacturers in the US block out competition because of patents, while cheaper generic drugs or holistic therapies are suppressed out of the marketplace. Buyers are not allowed to negotiate the price of drugs freely because of the restrictive patent laws. Also, price negotiations cannot be made because information on similar generic drugs cannot be compared to the patented name brand drugs.

Because of these competition-stifling rules, the price of brand name drugs in the US surged 164 percent between 2008 and 2015. Obviously the pharmaceutical industry in this country is not a free market that allows for open competition in helping people get well. Medicine in the US is dominated by brand name drugs that the laws give market exclusivity to.

Competition stifled, negotiations restricted, as Big Pharma takes advantage of Americans

To put these numbers in perspective, Americans spend $858 per capita on prescription drugs. Nineteen other industrialized nations, on average, spend about half that – or $400 per capita. The 20 most popular name brand drugs are three times pricier in the US than in the UK. In these other countries negotiations are allowed; in the US, the drug manufacturers set the prices. Negotiations are blocked and insurers are restricted from fighting for the best deals. This is why medicines like insulin for diabetes increased 300 percent between 2002 and 2013. It is also why cancer treatments are debuting at over $100,000, and insurance rates are skyrocketing to cover the rising costs. Not only is the medical system ignoring the root cause of health issues today, but the drug makers are running the show, pushing out competition, blocking negotiations and shoving their junk science into patients’ bodies.

Doctors often follow along with this brand name domination, ignoring cheaper, comparable drugs with the same effects. This drug-intensive approach also blinds patients and their doctors from seeking alternative methods of natural healing that are restorative to the whole body and cheaper in the long run.

Evidence-based or belief-driven? $57.5 billion spent annually on drug promotion

In 2004, two tireless researchers from York University found that the US Pharmaceutical industry spends $57.5 billion annually on drug promotion and advertisement, double what the companies spend on actual research. As the researchers explained, this is equivalent to spending $61,000 per US physician just to promote the drugs. This fact alone reveals that belief in the drugs and perpetual indoctrination are the real driving forces behind pharmaceutical sales. Because of this, people are not being introduced to evidence-based medicine, but are being brainwashed into accepting the notion that they have chronic diseases, only manageable through synthetic pills. Many physicians become the middle men, only peddling what they are paid to prescribe.

While emergency medicine has its place, the pharmaceutical industry as a whole does nothing more than prey on people’s minds and their lack of understanding of nutrition utilization and detoxification optimization. This inconvenient truth is evidenced by the statistics. Pharmaceutical “medicine” is a hundred billion dollar industry, but the chronic health problems in the country are only getting worse. Diabetes, heart disease, obesity, neurological dysfunction, behavioral problems and immune system deficiency are all on the rise. The pharmaceutical industry diverts people away from the root causes of their health problems, blocking price negotiations and forbidding competition from cheaper drugs and alternative healing modalities.

Big Pharma Suffers Another Major Blow As Study Debunks High Cholesterol Myths, Admitting Statins Are Totally Worthless

It’s been a tough few weeks for Big Pharma, as three major studies have now completely disproved the effectiveness of its most profitable drugs. Last week, a huge study published in The Lancet admitted that the risks of antidepressants in children and teens far outweigh the benefits, as the drugs routinely increase suicidal behavior. Out of 14 antidepressants, only one was shown to improve depression better than the placebo.

Now, scientists are reporting that cholesterol drugs, which 15 million Americans are prescribed, are also completely worthless. A group of international researchers published a study in the BMJ Open journal that found no link between what’s known as “bad” cholesterol and death as a result of heart disease in individuals over 60 years of age.

In fact, the results found that 92 percent of people with high cholesterol actually lived longer. The best way to achieve and maintain good heart health is not through medications but through healthy lifestyle habits.

“Lowering cholesterol with medications for primary cardiovascular prevention in those aged over 60 is a total waste of time and resources, whereas altering your lifestyle is the single most important way to achieve a good quality of life,” said vascular and endovascular surgery expert Professor Sherif Sultan from the University of Ireland.

‘Lowering cholesterol with medications is a total waste of time’

Study co-author Dr. Malcolm Kendrick said their findings show “that older people with high LDL (low-density lipoprotein) levels, the so-called ‘bad’ cholesterol, lived longer and had less heart disease.”

The revelations are sure to have huge implications for the pharmaceutical industry, as the cholesterol drug Lipitor is the most profitable meditation of all time – raking in more than $140 billion in sales, according to Health Impact News.

The guidelines for preventing heart disease and the buildup of plaque in the arteries need to be re-evaluated, said the study authors, adding that “the benefits from statin treatment have been exaggerated.”

But the truth is that the benefits of statins haven’t just been exaggerated, but 100 percent fabricated, as well as the “research” supporting other drugs such as antidepressants and vaccines.

Natural News reported in 2013 that the push to get even more U.S. adults on statins was facilitated by doctors tied to the industry. Physicians with the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology issued new guidelines three years ago calling for one-third of all adults to consider taking statins – a push proven to be extremely lucrative for Big Pharma.

When questioned about the conflict of interest, the response was: “Ties between heart doctors and Big Pharma are so extensive that it is almost impossible to find a large group of doctors who have no industry ties.”

New study says multiple vaccines at once not safe for kids

The third major study in a matter of days to discredit the pharmaceutical industry, comes from the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, which found that giving children multiple vaccines at once is unsafe – a complete contradiction to the vaccine narrative shoved down everyone’s throats by government, drug companies and the media for decades.

“Although CDC recommends polio, hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, rotavirus, Haemophilus influenzae type B, and pneumococcal vaccines for two-, four-, and six-month-old infants, this combination of eight vaccines administered during a single physician visit was never tested for safety in clinical trials,” wrote medical researcher Neil Z. Miller.

“This is at odds with a CDC report which found that mixed exposures to chemical substances and other stress factors, including prescribed pharmaceuticals, may produce ‘increased or unexpected deleterious health effects.'”

So there you have it. The pharmaceutical industry, as well the government mandated policies that support it, have absolutely no credibility, and therefore should not be trusted by anyone. The best way to maintain good health is to practice healthy lifestyle habits including eating a balanced diet, exercising and taking time to quiet the mind.

Unsettling Truth: Most Clinical Trials are Funded by Big Pharma

New research shows a 43% increase in clinical trials funded by drug companies during 2006-2014. Can you say “conflict of interest?”

Concerns have been expressed over the past few years about the independence of clinical trials, due to the funding of some trials by corporations with vested interests. New data from Johns Hopkins University suggests that this is now the norm rather than the exception. The clinical trials that allow a drug to go to market are most often funded by the pharmaceutical industry.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandates clinical trials of safety and efficacy for all drugs intended for sale to Americans. Current regulations require that trials start with testing on laboratory animals and culminate with tests on human subjects.

The problem is that – with millions and sometimes billions of dollars at stake – there’s no requirement for these tests to be done by a third party. The drug industry is basically ‘policing itself.’

Clinical trials funded directly by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) are considered independent. However, a large proportion of trials done by the NIH are now funded by major pharmaceutical corporations. The Johns Hopkins report indicates that the number of independent NIH trials has fallen and the number of pharma-funded NIH trials has risen each year since 2006.

The number of NIH-funded trials fell by 24% from 2006 to 2014, from 1,376 trials to 1,048 trials. During the same period, pharma-funded NIH trials increased by 43%, from 4,585 in 2006 to 6,550 in 2015. These data are from ClinicalTrials.gov, a U.S. government repository with information on various human clinical trials performed since 2005.

Big Pharma companies aren’t required to register clinical trial data with ClinicalTrials.gov. However, most academic journals accept and publish such data only from studies that are held by the U.S. government.

This ‘preference’ of the journals has led Big Pharma to register more studies, and also has allowed an interesting look into just how conflicted the industry is. Fewer independent trials means that drug corporations are not acting with impartiality, nor is the FDA.
