While most of the USSA is freezing from record cold temperatures (one wonders how cold it is in Canada!), it seems appropriate to blog about this story which came into my inbox during the holidays from Mr. V.T., a regular article contributor here. As one might imagine, this prompt some really high octane speculation:
As one might imagine, there are those taking this fossilized Antarctic forest as evidence of the Flood. But there’s a teensy weensy “catch”:
The fossilized trees in Antarctica, discovered by a team of scientists led by Erik Gulbranson, a paleoecologist at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee raise a number of unanswered questions.

Scientists say the prehistoric forest on Antarctica existed long before the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. About 280 million years ago it was rapidly buried in volcanic ash, which preserved it down to the cellular level. The age of the forest alone speaks against the Great Flood theory because it is highly unlikely the Deluge happened so long ago.
Now, as one can imagine, that date of 280 million years ago sparked my interest, because if one adds “fossilized forest” to the small but growing amount of indicators that there may be very old and ancient artificial and perhaps even human structures on that polar continent, then clearly at one time in the distant path the world’s geography was vastly different, and Antarctica-Atlantis – if I may be so bold – was a part of it. The problem, as the article points out, is the chronology: either one has to assume a very old date for such things, which raises the question of how the Atlantis mythology could be preserved to Plato’s articulation of it.
One answer might be my “cosmic war” scenario which I outlined in my book of that name. In that book I hypothesized that the explosion of the planet that used to orbit in the asteroid might have been the cause of the flood myths, if that planet was a large water-bearing body. Shockwaves of water would have scoured Mars and concussed the Earth, perhaps burying Antarctica in water (ice) and altering the planet’s continental disposition radically. The problem, once again, is the chronology: in my scenario, that event occurred either at 3.2 million years ago, or at 65 million years ago. Again, the datasets of chronological benchmarks are all messed up.
But one thing does emerge from this discovery and its implications: the history of Antarctica, and of our planet, is in need of some drastic revision. The problem is, do we yet have enough chronological information to compile a comprehensive history that does justice to such scenarios?
My intuition tells me, not yet.
But… we’re fast approaching the point that the effort will have to be made.
Written in a cogent, easy to follow, and yet daring manner, the renowned scholars, Shoch and Bauval, are at it again. In Origins of the Sphinx the authors challenge Egyptology at its core: at the Great Sphinx.
Methodically, the authors sift through a wide assortment of data, which seeks to ascertain a more precise dating of the ancient monument.
Split up into two parts, the first half of the book covers seven different topics, which includes an epilogue, while the latter half covers nine different appendixes that finalize the last half of the book.
Each of the initial seven parts is written solely by one of the two authors. At first this choice seemed odd, but it probably was best in order to differentiate who’s bringing about what particular commentary and argument.
Sampling a wide data set, the authors take a cursory glance at the architecture, which includes the Valley and Mortuary Temples, with multi-ton megalithic blocks, as well as more. A gander is also taken at a few of the visitors and researchers that excavated and sampled the sight, such as Colonel William Howard Vyse and Giovanni Battista Caviglia, who had a penchant for the mysticism, the occult, and more. But the authors don’t stop there. Also covered are issues with the fragments of the beard of the Sphinx, geophysical techniques to view below the surface of the Sphinx enclosure, considerations on water erosion on the Sphinx, as well as an in-depth analysis of the Sphinx’s possible construction date.
Regarding the date, Shoch, after some extended analysis in the chapter Sands Of Time, infers:
“…using a linear “conservative” calibration and assuming a date of 4,500 years ago for the western end (which in my assessment is a minimum date; it could be older), then the original core body of the Sphinx is minimally 2.7 times older than 4,500 years ago, giving a date after rounding of circa 10,000 BCE. All in all, I suspect that the proto-Sphinx was in existence prior to the end of the last ice age (that is, prior to 9700 BCE) and was contemporaneous with other structures, such as the oldest portions of Gobekli Tepe in southeastern Turkey. Put simply, the seismic data are compatible with an initial date of circa 10,000 BCE (or even a bit earlier) for the core body of the Sphinx. There is no doubt in my mind that the seismic data alone, independent of any other evidence – such as the surface weather and erosion, which I discuss in chapter 7 – strongly support the hypothesis that the origins of the Great Sphinx predate dynastic times by many millennia.”[pp.78-79]
Such an assertion will undoubtedly send shockwaves through the orthodox Egyptology communities. Then again, such a hypothesis will not surprise many of those exploring other avenues of research in the alternative research community.
Be that as it may, another salient component of this mystery discussed by Bauval is whether Khafre couples with the Sphinx as conventional Egyptology dictates, or whether some other theory might make more sense. Also discussed is what took place with the Dream Stela, the inscription of the Great Limestone Stela of Amenhotep II, the Edfu Temple Texts, and much more.
This book really features a lot more intriguing information than that mentioned. The authors are not only erudite in their research, but make the information accessible for the lay person. That also doesn’t even begin to delve into the nine appendices, which also give a deeper glance that’s a bit technical, but helps shed light onto the situation. Each of the appendices is essentially its own article, and yet couple to the rest of the book rather seamlessly.
If you’re looking for an open-minded foray into the mystery of the Sphinx, that’s meticulously researched while also offering the tools for incisive individuals to come to their own conclusions, hesitate no longer. The approach taken by the authors, although unorthodox, should be considered at length, for if what they say is true, then the history that we’ve been brought up with is drastically different than what we’re being told. Time will ultimately tell, but my bet’s that the authors are pulling on a thread that goes a lot deeper than merely the Sphinx.

WASHINGTON | Recently released remote sensing photography of NASA’s Operation IceBridge mission in Antarctica led to a fascinating discovery when images revealed what some experts believe could be the existence of a possible ancient human settlement lying beneath an impressive 2.3 kilometers of ice.
The intriguing discovery was made during aircraft tests trials of NASA’s Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS) lidar technology set to be launched on the Ice, Cloud and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) in 2017, that aims to monitor changes in polar ice.
“There’s very little margin for error when it comes to individual photons hitting on individual fiber optics, that is why we were so surprised when we noticed these abnormal features on the lidar imagery,” explains Nathan Borrowitz, IceBridge’s project scientist and sea ice researcher with NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
“As of now we can only speculate as to what these features are but the launching of ICESat-2 in 2017 could lead to other major discoveries and a better understanding of Antarctica’s geomorphological features” he adds. A human settlement buried under 2.3 km of ice
Leading archeologist, Ashoka Tripathi, of the Department of Archaeology at the University of Calcutta believes the images show clear evidence of an ancient human settlement beneath the ice sheet.
“These are clearly features of some sort of human-made structure, resembling some sort of pyramidal structure. The patterns clearly show nothing we should expect from natural geomorphological formations found in nature. We clearly have here evidence of human engineering. The only problem is that these photographs were taken in Antarctica under 2 kilometers of ice. That is clearly the puzzling part, we do not have any explanation for this at the moment,” he admits.
“These pictures just reflect a small portion of Antarctica’s total land mass. There are possibly many other additional sites that are covered over with ice. It just shows us how easy it is to underestimate both the size and scale of past human settlements,” says Dr Tripathi.
Remnants of a lost civilization
Historian and cartographer at the University of Cambridge, Christopher Adam, believes there might be a rationnal explanation.

“One of histories most puzzling maps is that of the Turkish admiral Piri Reis in 1513 AD which successfully mapped the coastline of Antarctica over 500 years ago. What is most fascinating about this map is that it shows the coastline of Antarctica without any ice. How is this possible when images of the subglacial coastline of Antarctica were only seen for the first time after the development of ground-penetrating radar in 1958? Is it possible Antarctica has not always been covered under such an ice sheet? This could be evidence that it is a possibility” he acknowledges.
« A slight pole shift or displacement of the axis of rotation of the Earth in historical times is possibly the only rational explanation that comes to mind but we definitely need more research done before we jump to any conclusion.”
ICESat-2 (Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite 2), part of NASA’s Earth Observing System, is a planned satellite mission for measuring ice sheet mass elevation, sea ice freeboard as well as land topography and vegetation characteristics, and is set to launch in may 2017.
Even though at first glance you may think it’s just another Egyptian Pyramid, this amazing structure was found half way across the world in China. The monument which eerily resembles Egyptian pyramids was found in the Henan province and dates back at least 2,000 years.
Archaeologists have unearthed a pyramidal tomb discovered during construction work in Zhengzhóu, Henan province, China.
Because of its “Egyptian” characteristics, it has been labeled “magical” by local media.
Further analysis will be carried out in the coming months to determine the exact age of the structure and for whom it was built.
The place where the Pyramid was build used to be a village that was later evicted to build a modern residential complex, reports Huanqiu.com.
In the same chamber where the pyramidal structure was unearthed by the team of the Office of Cultural Relics of Zhengzhóu, is another tomb with the shape of a semi-cylinder.
The entire complex is around 30 meters long and 8 meters wide and was built with the entrance facing east. The complex is composed of a narrow passage followed by a main dome where the two tombs rest.
According to early estimates, experts believe that the ‘Egyptian Style’ pyramid could be over 2,000 years old. Judging by its style, archaeologists believe it belonged to the Han Dynasty.
China isn’t a stranger when it comes to Pyramids. In fact, many scholars believe the oldest and largest Pyramids are located in the Asian country.
Many authors agree that the Great Pyramid of China is so large that the Great Pyramid of Giza seems like a miniature monument.
The story of the Chinese pyramid began at the end of the Second World War when American pilot James Gaussman was about to complete a resupply mission to the forces of the Chinese Army. Shortly after flying over the city of Xi’an, heading southwest, the pilot encountered what looked like a gigantic pyramid.
Surprised, after making several passes over the humongous structure, he decided to take a number of photographs, which later included a detailed report which were handed to his superiors as soon as he returned to base.
The incident was forgotten among the files of the US Air Force until 40 years later, the ‘Great Pyramid of China’ was brought back to light through the work of Australian writer Brian Crowley, who published one of the photographs of the Pyramid in his book.
As a result, it was known that this wasn’t the first time pilots saw the humongous Chinese Pyramid. In fact, during March 1947, when the war was already over, the New York Times published an article making reference to the sighting made by Col. Maurice Sheehan from his plane, when he flew over a gigantic pyramid, described by Col. Maurice Sheehan as having approximate dimensions of 300 meters in height and 450 meters on each side.
Archaeologists have discovered 47 pieces of the legendary Orichalcum Metal which is believed to have been used on Atlantis in a 2,600-year-old shipwreck.
Is this the ultimate proof Atlantis DID exist?
Some 2,600 years ago, a ship sank off the coast of Gela, to the south of modern-day Sicily. What experts found inside the wreckage has shaken the archaeological community: 47 pieces of a precious alloy that according to ancient accounts, was one of the most precious metals used in Atlantis.
According to Plato’s writings the metal—believed to be an alloy of copper, zinc and lead—was extracted and originated from Atlantis, and was used to worship Poseidon among other things.
The curious metal (Orichalcum) was first mentioned in the 7th century BC by Hesiod, and in the Homeric hymn dedicated to Aphrodite, dated to the 630s.
According to experts, the ship—which is believed to date back to the sixth century—was traveling to Gela, coming from either Greece, or somewhere in Asia Minor. The discovery was made by divers some 300 meters below the surface.
According to Sebastiano Tusa, renowned archaeologist and member of the research team, two perfectly preserved Corinthian helmets, remains of amphorae (jars), an anchor and several blisters (containers holding oils) were also found.

“The ship dates to the end the sixth century B.C.” It was likely caught in a sudden storm and sunk just when it was about to enter the port,” added Tusa.
“The presence of helmets and weapons aboard ships is rather common. They were used against pirate incursions,” Tusa told Seeker.com. “Another hypothesis is that they were meant to be an offer to the gods.”
This isn’t the first discovery of the legendary metal. In 2015, researchers diving near the shipwreck recovered 39 ingots of the curious metal.
Orichalcum or aurichalcum is a metal mentioned in several ancient writings, including the story of Atlantis in the Critias of Plato. Within the dialogue, Critias (460 – 403 BC) claims that orichalcum had been considered second only to gold in value and had been found and mined in many parts of Atlantis in ancient times, but that by Critias’ own time orichalcum was known only by name.
Furthermore, ancient texts reveal—Critias written by Plato—that the three outer walls of the Temple to Poseidon and Cleito on Atlantis were clad respectively with brass, tin, and the third outer wall, which encompassed the whole citadel, “flashed with the red light of orichalcum”.
“The waters there are a priceless mine of archaeological finds,” remarked Adriana Fresina, an archaeologist who works with Tusa.
Interestingly, Orichalcum is also mentioned in the Antiquities of the Jews – Book VIII, sect. 88 by Josephus, who stated that the vessels in the Temple of Solomon were made of orichalcum (or a bronze that was like gold in beauty).

For quite a long time, Mars has served as a place of wonder.
In fiction, there have been many authors that have sparked the imagination of individuals in respect to the red planetary body. It can be argued, however, that The War Of The Worlds, by H.G. Wells, was perhaps the quintessential turn in fiction which served to firmly inculcate consistent focus on the ancient Red Planet. Another notable writer, Edgar Rice Burroughs, added to the Red Planet mythos when he published A Princess Of Mars, which was part of part of a series of stories he published on the red planet.
In modern times, it has been argued, that in addition to Mars containing pyramids on its surface, the red planet also contains a face on its surface.
Former NASA consultant, researcher, author and writer Richard C. Hoagland covers in his highly intriguing book, The Monuments Of Mars – A City On The Edge Of Forever [review here] that Mars features extensive evidence for artificial edifices, which do not seem natural in form, as well as many other anomalies which have mathematical properties on the surface.
To add a few more buckets of fuel onto the embers of the subject of Mars, the CIA recently declassified documents on Mars, which will undoubtedly bring forth much rumination and speculation.
The recent declassified CIA document in question is named “CIA-RDP96-00788R001900760001-9“. This document is aptly titled Mars Exploration. This declassification by the CIA was part of an extensive declassification of documents that took place in January, which cover a variety of highly thought-provoking topics.
Dating back to May 22, 1984, the document purports to be a transcript of an experiment conducted a few decades ago which attempted to remote view Mars approximately at approximately 1 Million years B.C.
Before continuing, as a preamble, it’s highly intriguing, and profoundly suggestive, that each of the exact coordinates that were given yielded rather astonishing results. The possibility of this being a ‘random’ remote viewing probe ceases to decrease, and the probability of it being a follow up remote view and reconnaissance session at that time increases quite drastically. If this contention is correct, Mars would have to have been under some type of remote viewing surveillance for at least some time. That’s just my personal speculation however.
After beginning to remote view the object, the subject begins:
As we can gather, the remote viewer has spotted what seems to be a pyramid-like structure, which could go on to corroborate the possibility of there being pyramids on Mars, as covered by Richard C. Hoagland in his book.
After proceeding to new coordinates, the subject covers another notable point in the document, which is quite evocative:
As we can gather, we begin by noting that there is an object that seems like an obelisk found, which is very peculiar to say the least. However,the fact that the CIA individual that was prompting the remote viewer made no effort to spend additional time on the object [or the pyramid for that matter], which should have put their suspicion meter into the red zone, leads me to believe that this particular remote viewing session, or at least this particular coordinate reading, was carried out to confirm previous readings carried out prior to this.
Ironically, a place on Earth where we see Pyramids and an obelisk is Egypt. Now, to double-down, or triple-down on our ‘coincidences’, let’s take a gander at an excerpt that was published in the renown Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, which contained a chapter heading named, Signpost to Mars. This was mentioned by Richard C. Hoagland, in his book The Monuments Of Mars – A City On The Edge Of Forever:
“One of the weirdest coincidences of the whole affair is that Cairo, the site of the (two greatest) pyramids, was originally named El-Kahira, from the Arabic El-Kahir – “Meaning Mars…””[1]
As Richard C. Hoagland excitedly intimates:
“Again – what were the random probabilities that there would exist two isolated worlds, both with “pyramids” and “sphinxes,” and now, that the one site on this planet where the most perfect, most archetypal form still stand – Cairo – would also form the key linguistic bridge that links those worlds…!?”[2][Bold Emphasis Added]
It surely boggles the mind, does it not?
Now, getting back on track, let’s take a look at the last tidbit of evidence which moves these ‘coincidences’ from the realm of randomness, and into the realm of coordination, by taking a gander at the last peculiar bit of data:
Although the document alludes to many different topics which that be covered, for our purposes, we will focus only on the fact that the document speaks of there being an ancient civilization that lived on Mars. The remote viewer himself states that he perceived them to be ancient people.
A pyramid, an obelisk, and a civilization, all on Mars, all covered within a declassified CIA document. What else does the Red Planet harbor within its confines?
Admittedly, remote viewing isn’t an exact science, and it’s more like an art, but this document isn’t the only piece of evidence showcasing oddities on Mars.
In fact, the book The Cydonia Codex – Reflections from Mars by George J. Haas & William R. Saunders [Review Here] brings forth extensive evidence for there being a correlation between geoglyphs on mars, and geoglyphs found throughout the Earth. Some of the cultures that feature these geoglyphs on Earth are the Aztec, the Olmec, Maya and more.[3]
Lastly, but surely not less important, plasma physicist, and former NASA employee, Dr. John Brandenburg Ph.D., has postulated that Mars contains evidence of a nuclear catastrophe in its past. Dr. Brandenburg came to this particular conclusion based on the fact that Mars contains Xenon-129, thorium and uranium, which are elements that are not of natural origins, and only come about from what he postulates as nuclear explosions, in extremely enormous yields.
