“The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”
– Ann Wigmore

“He who takes medicine and neglects diet wastes the skill of the physician.”
– Chinese Proverb

There are mainstream doctors, and there are open-minded doctors who are few, but dedicated, within the alternative health community.  Dr. Mercola is one of these select few who isn’t afraid to not only call it how it is, but back up what he says with significant contributions and hard work.

Anyone that has been reading Dr. Mercola’s work for quite some time knows what kind of quality of work they will get.  For those that might be newer, as all of us were at one time, Dr. Mercola has been putting in hard work on his website, and he has been dedicated to help others find truths within the sphere of health, no matter how uncomfortable they may be.

It is no surprise then that in Fat For Fuel, Dr. Mercola has come out once again pulling no punches with his new effort to show the truth behind the myths claiming fats being unhealthy.  Better yet, he goes beyond that to provide the ample benefits that are to be had by eating healthy fats, which harbor immense benefits.

Fat For Fuel is a veritable crash course on how to streamline your health.  Some of the most salient points in the book, which stand to help a lot of individuals, is that Dr. Mercola takes a very comprehensive approach into showing how to cut off the supply line for cancer cells, how to improve your overall health with simple dietary/lifestyle changes, and even discusses how to maintain healthy mitochondria, which helps maintain optimal health reducing the likelihood of cancer, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Type 2 Diabetes and other diseases.

All of this comes about through what Dr. Mercola calls Mitochondrial Metabolic Therapy [MMT].  Essentially, what MMT does is target mitochondria, which aids in bringing about healing of chronic disease.  This is accomplished by making sure the body uses fat as a primary fuel, rather than using glucose, which is far less optimal.

The system that Mercola provides is rather comprehensive in its approach, while not overlooking common issues that individuals may face in their journey towards optimal health.  The book offers considerations like when to eat and how much time to leave between, what cooking oils to avoid that are deleterious to health, ways to help individuals self-monitor their own health, and much more.

Extensively covered as well are the many benefits of fasting.  Thankfully, there are a few fasting options offered, as well as many of the do’s and don’ts as well.  Also covered there in are Mercola’s own favorite fast, as well as other fasts which also help the body reach optimal health.

The book even covers many of the extensive issues that are prevalent within individuals with too much iron.  This part alone is quite salient since it couples directly too many other health issues like Cancer, Diabetes, Obesity, and more.

In its totality, Fat For Fuel is an in-depth look at how the marvel of the human body can achieve healing by providing it with the proper fuel source.  If you’re interested in healing yourself without having to deal with the myriad issues of that conventional medicine espouses, then consideration of this book should be done.  One thing is for sure, after reading Fat For Fuel people will never think of fats – healthy fats! – in the same way ever again.

DEA claims cannabis holds no medicinal value even as the federal government owns the PATENT on its use as a medicine

DEA

September 6, 2016

For decades, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), of the herb cannabis sativa, has been at the top of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) hit list. This targeted plant and its natural properties continue to be classified as a schedule one drug on the DEA’s senseless drug scheduling system. Cannabis is listed alongside meth and LSD for having “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.” The DEA is adamant about controlling cannabis, even at a time when state governments are decriminalizing it altogether and allowing for its use in medical treatments.

DEA refuses to admit that cannabis has medicinal value, despite widespread evidence to the contrary

In August 2016, the DEA was expected to reclassify cannabis or remove it from their hit list altogether; however, when decision time arrived, the DEA refused to remove cannabis from its highly schedule one drug status. Even though cannabis has become a vital part of cancer treatments and an effective treatment for seizures, anxiety, and glaucoma, the DEA stated that “science doesn’t support” cannabis as useful for any medical purposes.

Hypocritically, the federal government itself has filed a patent claiming that cannabis has useful medical purposes, including powerful “antioxidant properties.” The patent, filed in 1999 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, admits that cannabis is useful “in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.”

Government patents cannabis, admitting its powerful antioxidant properties

The 1999 cannabis patent, (code 6,630,507) was a government confession that cannabis wasn’t some brain damaging chemical, as it had been depicted through decades of brainwashing. In fact, the patent admitted that cannabis was a “neuroprotectant,” capable of reversing neurological damage. The patent confessed that cannabis actually reversed “neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.”

With this patented knowledge coming out in the open in 2003, the DEA no longer had any justification to continue its war on cannabis and its war on the people who reap benefits from this natural medicine. But even seventeen years after the government admitted cannabis is a useful medicine, the DEA refuses to reclassify the plant as having multiple medical uses.

To reschedule cannabis, the government would have to give up control and admit they were wrong all along. For this rescheduling of cannabis to come about, the DEA would literally be declaring that all the lives they ruined, all the people shot and imprisoned, was all in vain. It’s hard to imagine the DEA laying down their pride unless the entire organization was shut down and/or given new priorities by a future president.

Science and medicine is rigged: don’t believe the official story

This decades-long censorship and control over one of nature’s fine, healing plants is a prime example of how everyone is being systematically lied to, top down, throughout many generations on what medicine and science is. This control over cannabis should wake everyone up to the fact that science and medicine is rigged, that knowledge on a multitude of natural healing substances is being suppressed. Americans should free themselves from this dictatorship of science and medicine by rejecting the synthetic chemicals they are told to breathe, inject, and swallow.

Don’t believe the official story. For optimal health, Americans should seek out the natural foods and medicines that work in harmony with the human body. This includes cannabidiols and other powerful antioxidants such as lutein, lycopen, betacarotene, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, selenium, and the list goes on.

Clean, effective science and medicine already exists freely in nature, without permission, without a prescription. There are dark reasons why cannabis is controlled the way it is today and this harsh reality serves as a reminder that the world is being lied to at the highest levels by a rigged, powerful system dominated by psychopaths who seek to control the truth and turn people against people in an intricate system of corruption and compliance.

Court bans DOJ from prosecuting medical marijuana users, growers

Medical marijuana

Daniel Barker
August 22, 2016

Supporters of medical marijuana have gained an important victory with a federal appeals court ruling that prohibits the Department of Justice (DOJ) from prosecuting medical marijuana growers and users if no state laws are being breached.

A unanimous decision by the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals prevents the DOJ from using federal funds to prosecute those who grow, sell or purchase marijuana, despite the fact that marijuana is still illegal under federal law.

The decision has effectively upheld a 2014 congressional budget ruling that protects states from the DOJ if they try to prevent them “from implementing their own state laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession, or cultivation of medical marijuana.”

“If the federal government prosecutes such individuals, it has prevented the state from giving practical effect to its law,” wrote Circuit Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain, member of the three-judge panel.

Ruling favors states’ rights

The ruling is not only a significant victory in favor of states’ rights, but also for 10 defendants prosecuted under federal marijuana laws who were seeking an appeal.

The 10 defendants – all from Western states in the Ninth Circuit’s jurisdiction – were either indoor growers or medical marijuana store owners. The defendants will now be subject to lower court rulings determining whether they were in compliance with state laws before their charges can be dropped.

The decision should be viewed as only a temporary victory, however. Judge O’Scannlain warned that the ruling does not provide immunity from federal laws, and may be rescinded at a later date.

“Congress could restore funding tomorrow, a year from now, or four years from now, and the government could then prosecute individuals who committed offenses while the government lacked funding,” O’Scannlain wrote.

But at least some legal experts view the court’s decision as a major step towards marijuana legalization at the federal level. Steve McIntosh, a lawyer for one of the defendants, said that the ruling may represent “the beginning of the end of the federal war on medical marijuana.”

Considering the fact that medical marijuana is already legal in half of the United States, and that four states have now legalized recreational marijuana use (with nine more states set to vote on recreational marijuana in November), it would appear that maybe it is time for the federal government to stop wasting taxpayers’ money putting legitimate businessmen and ordinary citizens in jail for offenses that most Americans do not view as a crime.

The cost of the ‘War on Drugs’

The United States’ “War on Drugs” has been an enormous failure with a staggering price tag – both socially and economically.

Kit O’Connell of Mint Press News wrote:

“Since Richard Nixon declared a war on drugs in June 1971, the cost of that ‘war’ had soared to over $1 trillion by 2010. Over $51 billion is spent annually to fight the drug war in the United States, according to Drug Policy Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting more humane drug policies.”

This trillion-dollar disaster has inflicted – and continues to inflict – a terrible cost in terms of human lives.

Even today, someone is arrested in the U.S. for marijuana possession roughly once every minute. People are still being jailed for using a natural healing plant that has been proven in hundreds of studies to have great medicinal value in treating a wide range of illnesses, including Alzheimer’s, PTSD, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and even cancer.

And recreational use of cannabis is far less dangerous than that of alcohol. Marijuana deaths are completely non-existent, while alcohol kills nearly 100,000 Americans yearly; alcohol is the fourth-leading cause of preventable death in the United States.

It’s time to end the senseless and costly prohibition of marijuana, and this latest federal ruling – however temporary it may prove to be – represents an important step in the right direction.

Chicago government wants to rename its chemical-filled toxic sewage product to confuse citizens

Biosolids
Source: NaturalNews.com
Samantha Debbie
August 19, 2016

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is asking the public for its help in renaming a sewage-based product it markets and sells as “nutrient-rich” compost. Biosolids, produced by wastewater treatment plants, consist of sewage sludge combined with various types of industrial waste from the fracking, pharmaceutical and agriculture industries.

Though it undergoes a filtration process, the end product often contains high levels of heavy metals, pesticides, pharmaceutical waste, pathogens and other toxic organic pollutants.

Municipalities around the nation, including Austin, Texas, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sell different versions of this toxic compost to generate revenue, an interesting practice considering the idea that processing of sewage sludge should be a cost incurred in the running of a city, not a market for fertilizer.

Chicago looking to rename sewage sludge; hoping it will become a moneymaker

Nevertheless, cities looking to make an extra buck are framing the sludge as an environmentally friendly product that’s good for all of us, which is likely why Chicago is looking for help in finding a nice name that makes you think “green.”

A recent change in the law made Chicago eligible to start selling sewage sludge as compost, according to reports. The water authority says its product is made from adding microbes that help to filter out nutrients to the wastewater.

“The product is much cheaper, and perhaps an even more effective, alternative to chemicals used to fertilize soil, the district said. Now that the product can be sold to the public, the agency is hoping to come up with a more marketable name,” reports DNA Info.

The water authority launched a campaign to help draw awareness (and likely sales) about the new product, which in Milwaukee is called “Milorganite,” and in Washington, D.C., “bloom.”

Some cities going bankrupt on selling sewage sludge as a compost

In the capital of the Lone Star State the product is called Dillo Dirt, named after the official state mammal. While Austin’s composting operation has received national recognition, it’s actually losing money, and a lot of it.

“Dillo Dirt has run in the red in recent years: Last year, costs to produce Dillo Dirt edged over $650,000, while revenue amounted to about $205,000. Over the last five years, the program has typically lost between $400,000 and $500,000, according to information provided by Austin Water,” reported the Austin-American Statesman.

The loss of revenue has prompted the City of Austin to try and sell the program to an outside distributor called Synagro, which if the contract goes through, would market the product under a new name.

The proposed five-year contract with Synagro is valued at an estimated $20 million. Austin Water director Greg Meszaros claims that the contract “is good for the environment, good for the utility, and good for our ratepayers.”

The adverse effects of biosolids

But research suggests otherwise.

Dr. David Lewis, a former scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) exposed the agency’s flawed program by reporting on the adverse effects of biosolids, which ultimately cost him his job, money and in some ways his reputation as a well-respected researcher.

Lewis says that spreading biosolids on the land as fertilizer is a danger to public health and the environment for a number of reasons, but primarily because of its toxic nature.

“Priority pollutants include endocrine disruptors, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, plasticizers and other chemical groups that concentrate in animal fats. As the fat solubility of chemicals increase, so does their neurotoxicity,” Lewis said in a interview with Mother Earth News.

“Not surprisingly, exposures to these chemicals are linked to autism, ALS, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological diseases and disorders.”

Acupuncture May Help Prevent Memory Loss, Study Suggests

acupuncture

Anna Scanlon
August 16, 2016

Acupuncture may help those who are suffering from the early stages of dementia, a new study suggests. This stage, known as mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is somewhere between that of memory loss due to normal aging and memory loss due to dementia. This new study is one of the first that looks at the combination of Western and Eastern medicine, suggesting that acupuncture may work best if they are used in concert with one another. [1]

For this research, 568 people with MCI were studied. 288 received acupuncture whilst the remainder received nimodipine, a drug that is supposed to help reduce some of the effects of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Three such studies were conducted in this way, while one studied the effect on the two when combined with one another. And while other studies had been done in a similar manner in 2011 and 2012, 5 out of 10 of them were not unsuitable for this current study. [1]

After poring over results of previous research and current research, it was concluded that those who participated in both acupuncture treatment and took nimodipine were most likely to perform well on mini memory tests than those who had received nimodipine alone. [2]

Those who participated in the study ranged in age from 26 to 94. In four of the trials, participants received acupuncture 3-5 days a week for 8 weeks, and in the other, received it for 3 months.

However, the participants did experience some side effects of the treatments. Namely, those who received acupuncture sometimes experienced fainting and light-headedness or bleeding from the site of the acupuncture wound. Those who took the nimodipine reported stomach upset and mild headaches.

While this trial does demonstrate that acupuncture can work well in conjunction with other treatments, the researchers have noticed several faults in the trial that make it inconclusive at this point. For example, those who conducted the experiment did not take the placebo effect into account. It was also neglected that most of the recruits for this study were in China, and therefore much more likely to believe that acupuncture therapy works, and in some cases, may actually prefer it to Western medicine.

Cinnamon Could Increase Ability to Learn, Study Says

July 28, 2016

Beginning a new semester or school year at high school or a university may be exciting, or it may be filled with stress, which is likely to increase as assessments pile up. Fortunately, there are natural remedies that can help with learning ability, and a new study shows that cinnamon may be one of them.

In this pre-clinical study, mice were first tested in mazes to separate the good learners from the poor learners. The good learners took an average of 60 seconds to find the food reward at the end of the maze, while the poor learners took an average of 150 seconds; two and a half times how long it took for the good learners.

After consuming cinnamon for one month, however, the poor learners were completing the maze puzzle at the same time as the good learners, instead of making so many wrong turns.

When the brains of mice from both groups were examined, the poor learners had more of one protein and less of another than the good learners at the beginning of the study. After the month of cinnamon consumption, the levels of these proteins were the same in both groups.

Researchers stated that these effects were most likely due to some of the compounds in cinnamon, such as cinnamaldehyde, which gives the spice its aroma and flavor. These are metabolized in the liver to form sodium benzoate, which was reported to stimulate plasticity – the ability to learn and adapt – in the hippocampus, the area of the brain responsible for memory.

Initially, plasticity of neurons in mice that learn poorly was much lower than those who could learn more effectively. It also improved the structural integrity of the brain cells, which in turn improved their communication with each other. Integrity of cultured hippocampal neurons was measured by the spine density.

Now, clinical trials are being planned, as there is hope that cinnamon extracts may help to ward off Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, besides helping stressed out students.

Cinnamon for More than Learning Ability

But isn’t cinnamon just a food, or a mere spice used for flavoring? Actually, cinnamon has been used in traditional medicine to treat conditions such as diabetes for many years.

A study on diabetic rats trying to confirm this found that cinnamaldehyde reduced blood glucose by 63% compared to the control group. A dose of 20mg per kilogram of body weight also significantly decreased the amount of haemoglobin (the oxygen-carrying protein on blood cells) that was tangled up in unabsorbed sugar; increased the liver’s normal stores of sugar and increased the level of insulin. Additionally, it normalized liver enzyme levels. Yeah, it seems cinnamon for diabetes really works.

These are just some of many cinnamon health benefits.

Although human clinical trials have not been conducted on cinnamon’s ability to improve learning, it may be still worthwhile to add it to your daily diet. Cinnamon could be added to oatmeal, cereal, or yogurt at breakfast, or consumed as part of chai tea. It could also be added to smoothies, hot chocolate, pancakes, or muffins. One idea is to combine half a cup of cottage cheese with diced apple and a pinch or more of cinnamon, among many others.

New Science Confirms That Eating Curry [With Turmeric] Prevents Dementia

Curry
Source: NaturalNews.com
Sarah Landers
July 28, 2016

As reported by The Telegraph, eating curry at least once a week may help you to prevent dementia, according to new research published in the Journal of Nutrition. The study by Australian scientists shows that a weekly hit of spicy food will keep your mind sharper for longer.

Turmeric has been identified as the most important and beneficial component, and is an ingredient used in almost every curry – from your mild and creamy kormas to extra hot and spicy vindaloos. Great news if you are a lover of spicy food – but what exactly is it about turmeric that helps prevent dementia?

Dementia and turmeric

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S., and more than 5 million Americans are currently living with the debilitating disease. Even more terrifying is the fact that one in every three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or a similar form of dementia.

There is no known cure for the progressive disease, but scientists have found that there are various superfoods and natural remedies that can help slow down or prevent the development of the condition. The health benefits of turmeric are numerous, and it is thought that this spice alone is powerful enough to replace your entire medicine cabinet. The main component in the spice – curcumin – is thought to fight liver damage, cirrhosis, Parkinson’s, various types of cancer and now, dementia.

Curcumin is believed by scientists to block rogue proteins called beta amyloid, which clump together and destroy neurons, as reported by The Telegraph. The scientists at Edith Cowan University in Perth studied 96 participants aged between 40 and 90 over a period of 12 months. Some of the participants were given a daily placebo, while others were given curcumin pills.

The scientists then tested various verbal and memory skills, and found that those taking the placebo suffered a decline in mental function after only six months, while those taking curcumin saw no decline.

According to The Telegraph, there is already evidence revealing a lower prevalence of dementia and better cognitive function in cultures where curry is a staple part of diets. Curcumin therapy has also been trialed in animals.

Dr. Laura Phipps of Alzheimer’s Research UK is reserving judgment. She said: “Some studies have produced limited evidence very high doses of curcumin – much higher than might be normally found in foods like curry – could have some impact on memory and thinking skills, but large-scale clinical trials will be required before researchers can fully assess any potential benefits.”

Foods to avoid to prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s disease

If you are keen to minimize your chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease, you should avoid eating the following foods:

  • Foods high in aluminum: This additive is used in almost everything, including cheese, cake mixes and milk formulas. Aluminum is toxic to brain tissue, and has been linked to the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Foods high in artificial sweetener aspartame: This sugar substitute has been linked to brain tumors, seizures and dementia.
  • Foods high in mercury: These include farmed salmon, rice and high-fructose corn syrup. Long-term exposure to this toxin may produce Alzheimer’s-like symptoms.
  • Foods high in artificial flavoring diacetyl: This has been linked to dementia, and is a major component in snack foods such as buttered popcorn and beer.
  • Foods that contain a lot of preservatives: Monosodium glutamate accelerates cognitive decline and is contained in almost all processed foods, according to Top 10 Grocery Secrets.

Glyphosate Disrupts DNA Function, Causing ‘Medical Chaos’ In The Form Of Multiple Diseases Including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Say Researchers

Glyphosate
Source: NaturalNews.com
Julie Wilson
July 26, 2016

Nearly half a century has passed since Monsanto scientist John Franz first discovered glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, which today is sprayed heavily all over the globe, including on our food and water, and in recreational areas where people go for leisure.

However, it is only now that scientists are beginning to truly understand the way this insidious chemical affects not only wildlife and the environment, but also the human body and its intricate biological functions.

A recent review of the scientific literature conducted by independent researchers Anthony Samsel, Ph.D. and Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D. – a scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – uncovered some disturbing information about the way glyphosate interferes with the structure and functionality of important proteins in the human body.

What they learned is that glyphosate behaves as a glycine analogue that incorporates peptides during protein synthesis, according to AlterNet. In other words, the herbicide alters various proteins dependent “on conserved glycine for proper function.”

Glyphosate found to adversely impact structure and function of important proteins

When the human body substitutes glyphosate for glycine, it leads to a host of serious illnesses including diabetes, obesity, asthma, Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson’s disease, among other conditions, according to the study’s authors.

“Glycine, the smallest amino acid commonly found in proteins, has unique properties that support flexibility and the ability to anchor to the plasma membrane or the cytoskeleton.

“This new direct biological evidence, taken together with correlational data, make a compelling case that glyphosate action as a glycine analogue accounts for much of glyphosate’s toxicity,” explains AlterNet, interpreting the researchers’ data.

Researchers say that when glyphosate behaves as an amino acid analogue of glycine, it can be incorporated into polypeptide chains during protein synthesis, which in turn affects the structure and function of important proteins in the human body.

Metabolic and regulatory processes may be disrupted by widely used herbicide

“Proteins fold up, and glycine is a small molecule that is often found at the folding places. Since glyphosate is much larger, it prevents the protein molecule from folding properly, leading to the disruption of function of many proteins with essential roles in metabolism and regulatory processes.”

Samsel and Seneff highlight a number of ways that this may affect humans, as well as other organisms, including the potential that “impaired fatty acid release” could lead to obesity and diabetes, because the chemical can disrupt the behavior of insulin receptors.

The researchers observed that glyphosate may prevent proteins from folding properly, causing “impaired one-carbon metabolism,” leading to neural tube defects and autism.

Researchers explain how glyphosate may cause autism, cancer and autoimmune diseases

It’s highly plausible that the herbicide may also disrupt “cell cycle control during DNA synthesis, and disregulated phosphorylation cascades,” which can end up causing cancer, complications with the lungs and autoimmune diseases.

Needless to say, the adverse effects glyphosate has on humans and other living things is absolutely frightening, and we still don’t understand the full extent of its impact. Nearly every chronic illness affecting Americans today can be traced back to glyphosate.

Yet, we can’t even get our regulatory agencies (namely the EPA) to recognize its carcinogenic effects, let alone the host of other debilitating, painful diseases it’s causing among humans.

“When a cell is trying to form proteins, it may grab glyphosate instead of glycine to form a damaged, mis-folded protein. After that it’s medical chaos. Where glyphosate replaces glycine, the cell can no longer conduct business as usual causing unpredicted consequences with many diseases and disorders as a result,” explains Stephen Frantz, Ph.D., a research pathobiologist.

While it’s essentially impossible to avoid exposure to glyphosate, you can take control of your health by boosting your immune system with clean, healthy foods such as The Health Ranger’s Organic Bee Pollen, sourced solely from carefully selected beekeepers in Spain.
