This website, in case you didn’t know, has a Community forum where people also post conversational items, articles, or just carry on a conversation with whoever else is there.  Well, I saw this strange article there posted by Mr. T.H., who shared it with the forum, and I want to post it here and talk about it in my high octane speculation of the day.  Here’s the article:

Russian Satellite Could Become The “Brightest Star” In Our Night Sky

Now, as one can imagine, here’s the part that caught my eye:

The small spacecraft, roughly the size of a loaf of bread, will unfurl a giant pyramid-shaped solar reflector in orbit, with the aim of shining brighter than any other star. The reflector, 16 square meters (170 square feet) in size, is supposedly 20 times thinner than human hair, made of a thin polymer film. This spacecraft doesn’t have any other scientific purpose, although the team notes that a similar structure could be used to remove defunct satellites from orbit.

“We want to show that space exploration is something exciting and interesting, but most importantly that today it is accessible to everybody who is interested,” project leader Alexander Shaenko said, reported Sputnik News.

The team is planning to place the spacecraft in a Sun-synchronous orbit 600 kilometers (370 miles) above the ground. This means it will always be in sunlight, and thus will always be shining in the night sky at different locations as Earth rotates. At this height, the spacecraft will also be able to avoid large effects from atmospheric drag, so it could feasibly orbit for weeks, months, or even years.

Of course, the word “pyramid” immediately captured my interest, and I have all sorts of “high octane fantasias” running through my head, but let’s talk about that reflective coating; the satellite, we’re told, will be about the size of a small loaf of bread, which will then unfurl “a giant pyramid-shaped solar reflector” in orbit.  Other than this, we’re not told much about the proposed function of the satellite other than to “look bright” and, by implication, “be fun and interesting to do.”

Uh huh…

Now, I don’t know about you, but I for one have some difficulty believing that the Russians would launch a big pyramid-shaped satellite just for kicks and giggles and to provide a nice “Nightlight in the sky.” Perhaps this is the latest component of their highly successful World Election Hacking System. Perhaps it’s some component of an illumination system designed for other purposes, such as blinding the optics of other satellites (ours for example), or some sort of “searchlight” for small but potentially dangerous near Earth objects. After all, Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, you’ll recall, back before the Chelyabinsk meteor incident, called for an international asteroid detection and defense system, but if others did not want to join, then Russia would just have to “do it all itself.”

Curiously, Mr. Medvedev, you’ll also recall, also stated that Russia could destroy dangerous asteroids busting them up with missiles carrying large hydrogen bombs (ala the Bruce Willis movie Armageddon).  Then, however, he went on to say something in a kind of “oh, hydrogen-bombs-are-so-yesterday” moment, namely, that there were “other means” of busting large rocks in space.

And that of course opened up all sorts of doors for high octane speculation, which I’m sure the remarks were designed to do, and I gladly walked through them then, and do so again now, for I propose to connect Mr. Medvedev’s remarks from those years ago, to this strange story today, and concentrate, not on the reflection properties, but the pyramid shape.

Many people do not know that during the 1960s-1970s and even into the 1980s, the Soviet Union conducted a number of very secret projects in what we would loosely and generally call the “paranormal”. One of these very top secret projects was the “pyramid power project.” Yes, that’s right; the Russians had a top secret project, lasting many years, exploring the alleged strange powers of pyramids for good and ill. To this end, they constructed a number of tall, slim fiberglass pyramids all over Russia. Some are still standing outside of Moscow today, and are a kind of tourist-curiosity destination. To my knowledge, this is the only known official state project investigating pyramid power; I know of no similar such project in any other major power, ever.  (Indeed, I first learned of the project before it became more openly known, from a Russian Orthodox priest that was then a friend of mine.)

As I outlined in The Giza Death Star Destroyed, some of these projects were very revealing, and their scope – I am convinced – is not fully known to this day. But one of the significant things that came from this research was the finding, discussed in some papers by the Ukrainian physicist Volodymyr Krasnoholovets, that for some reason the pyramid shape seems to influence the vacuum energy directly. They found – or at least, claimed to have found – that the pyramid geometry was engineering the fabric of the physical medium locally. Strange energy upwellings appeared over the apexes of their pyramids. They discovered, also, that tall “thin” pyramids acted more as antennae for these strange energies, while flatter pyramids acted as collectors of it. Strangely enough, they also found that the height-to-width ratio of the Great Pyramid fulfilled both functions.

So I have to wonder, of course, if this “pyramid satellite project” is a part of those experiments; it certainly seems to suggest that the Soviet Pyramid Project didn’t completely end with the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the disclosure of the existence of the project, and that it may be moving into space. If indeed the alleged discoveries of “medium-manipulating” characteristics of the pyramid shape are true, it stands to reason they would want to study those properties in the low-to-zero gravity context of space itself. The reflective coating would also correlate to other pyramid investigations – those of the American engineer Parr, for example – where the position of the sun, incoming solar energy, and so on, played a major role.

In short, for those who’ve been paying attention to this strange area of research, there is probably much more going on here than meets the eye.

See you on the flip side…

Manipulating Nothingness

Source: GizaDeathStar.com
Dr. Joseph P. Farrell Ph.D.
June 22, 2017

Ms. K.M. sent this article this week, and I have to blog about it, for it seems that some physicists are making the claim – not yet totally sanctioned by other physicists – of being able to manipulate the vacuum, and hence the vacuum (or zero point), energy itself:

Physicists Say They’ve Manipulated ‘Pure Nothingness’ And Observed The Fallout

Before we get to why I had an “oh my!” moment when I read this, and to my high octane speculation of the day, consider the following paragraphs:

Then, in 2015, a team led by Alfred Leitenstorfer from the University of Konstanz in Germany claimed they’d directly detected these fluctuations, by observing their influence on a light wave. The results were published in Science.

To do this, they fired a super short laser pulse – lasting only a few femtoseconds, which is a millionth of a billionth of a second – into a vacuum, and were able to see subtle changes in the polarisation of the light. They said these changes were caused directly by the quantum fluctuations.

It’s a claim that’s still being debated, but the researchers have now taken their experiment to the next level by ‘squeezing’ the vacuum, and say they’ve been able to observe the strange changes in the quantum fluctuations as a result.

That sounds weird, but in a vacuum, space and time behave in the same way, so it’s possible to examine one to learn more about the other.

Doing this, the team saw that when they ‘squeezed’ the vacuum, it worked kind of like squeezing a balloon, and redistributed the strange quantum fluctuations within it.

Now, in case you missed it, let’s boil all this down to two basic ideas:

(1) there is an energy in absolute vacuum, which is known by a variety of names; zero point energy, quantum fluctuations, vacuum energy and so on;

(2) that energy can be observed, or accessed, when one changes the pure “shape” or geometry of the vacuum itself. Indeed, viewed a certain way, the particles of physics are “changes of geometry” in the vacuum that are stable for some period of time.

Let this all sink in for a moment: scientists have found a way to “change the shape’ of the vacuum itself, and hence, have observed and accessed the strange and hitherto inaccessible world of that “quantum vacuum fluctuation.”

There is, so to speak, a purely abstract – non-physical – topology to the way even the vacuum – pure nothingness – behaves, and this is manipulable via shape. So the claim  – which, let us note for the record, is still being debated by the scientific community reacting to this experiment – is to have achieved the God-like power to shape nothingness itself. For most people, this will seem at once a contradiction of religion and the ultimate testament of the folly of man. In point of fact, for certain versions of religion, man is a “co-worker” with God, even in his own salvation, and there is no real limit placed on what that “co-working” entails, even, perhaps, to the cosmological scale. (For those interested in the details, it is part of the communicatio or circumincessio idiomatorum). While this experiment is only a first, small step, it is also a gigantic step in terms of the implications, for it is suggesting that the vacuum is directly engineerable – as some have been maintaining for decades – via its shape or geometry. Indeed, it recalls the pyramid research of Ukrainian physicist Volodimir Krasnoholovets, and his co-authored papers with topologist Michel Bounias.

It also recalls that disturbing statement in the Babylonian war epic, the Enuma Elish (and yes, I persist in my opinion that the epic is a war epic and not, pace academia, a creation epic), that after a colossal war and the destruction of the planet/god Tiamat, he “remeasured the structure of the deep“, of “the abyss”.

See you on the flip side…

Artificial Womb Created

Source: GizaDeathStar.com

May 7, 2017

In case you didn’t catch the story, artificial wombs have been successfully created and tested… at least, for sheep, according to this article shared by Mr. B:

An artificial womb successfully grew baby sheep — and humans could be next

Now, of course, this is all being sold – predictably enough and just according to the playbook – as a potential health benefit, for if it can be applied to humans, the technology could conceivably help premature babies; here’s the way the article puts it in its first three paragraphs:

Inside what look like oversized ziplock bags strewn with tubes of blood and fluid, eight fetal lambs continued to develop — much like they would have inside their mothers. Over four weeks, their lungs and brains grew, they sprouted wool, opened their eyes, wriggled around, and learned to swallow, according to a new study that takes the first step toward an artificial womb. One day, this device could help to bring premature human babies to term outside the uterus — but right now, it has only been tested on sheep.

It’s appealing to imagine a world where artificial wombs grow babies, eliminating the health risk of pregnancy. But it’s important not to get ahead of the data, says Alan Flake, fetal surgeon at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and lead author of today’s study. “It’s complete science fiction to think that you can take an embryo and get it through the early developmental process and put it on our machine without the mother being the critical element there,” he says.

Instead, the point of developing an external womb — which his team calls the Biobag — is to give infants born months too early a more natural, uterus-like environment to continue developing in, Flake says.
(Emphasis added)

True enough, such a technology would be a boon for care of premature babies.

But like Mr. B., I have difficulty believing that this technology is not applicable to the earliest stages of pregnancy. And that brings me to my high octane speculation of the day…

… while such a technology might be beneficial in the care of premature babies, I strongly suspect there’s another reason set of reasons entirely for the creation of this technology, and that set of reasons boils down to just two words: genetic engineering. Conceivably, such a technology could fulfill two dreams – or rather, nightmares – of the transhumanist “community,” for it would be (1)  a means not only to create but to gestate chimerical life forms, and (2) a means to create and gestate clones. Both purposes could be served by the perfection of this technology. In the latter case, it would be a kind of real world fulfillment of the film Island, staring Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, where human clones are literally gestated in such ‘biobags” and then “birthed” surgically on a pre-determined date.

The reason? There organs are going to be harvested for their “real” counterparts, and the clone – who is not viewed as a real “person” of course – is butchered, murdered, and thrown away. The technology, in other words, raises moral and jurisprudential issues. I’m one of those that maintains that human clones are persons, unique and different from their “originals” in the same way identical twins or triplets are different unique persons, regardless of the DNA similarities.

But watch, the transhumanist-progressive crowd will consult medical “ethicists” from the University of Oxford, who will contrive sophistical arguments why this is not the case.

New “Smart Phone” Will Be Quietly Studying Your Behavior And Reacting In Real-Time

Source: ActivistPost.com

April 21, 2017

The march towards an Orwellian future where every form of human behavior is being monitored by AI-driven appliances and electronics is quickly becoming a reality. This was the plan from the start and as we can see the ruling elite have not slowed down one bit in their attempt to create this kind of world.

It is thus no surprise that Samsung is releasing a new smart phone this week called the S8 and S8+ that has a software called “Bixby” which will be studying your behavior in real-time and will be reacting, responding and “learning” from you accordingly.

The new Samsung S8 smart phone represents one of the first portable devices released to the general public in which the owner will be officially creating a 2-way relationship with the machine. The phone will carry a feature that can be activated which will require biometric data (retinal scan and facial recognition) in order to use the phone, and you can sure many people will take advantage of this feature. Passwords and pin numbers will soon be no more as the masses are conditioned into using biometric data.

The Bixby software in the latest Samsung smart phone will:

“learn your routines to serve up the right apps at the right time”

And it:

“is an intelligent interface that learns from you to help you do more.”

The dark technocratic future of humanity is now coming to full view as the technocratic ruling elite continue to push their technocracy and technology to no end.

The questions that we need to be asking ourselves are questions like, when will humanity as a whole start pushing back? When will those in the Department of Justice demand an end to unnecessary research? When will people in large masses call this out and consider certain advanced scientific research unethical? When will the line be crossed where additional research into certain areas like artificial intelligence (AI) be considered an act of aggression against humanity or even a punishable crime? I’m referring to the people of the nation states demanding observation of human rights to privacy and holding elected officials accountable. And I’m also referring to consumers becoming aware of what they buy and choosing where and how they spend their money.

I believe all of this is part of the JADE (at the) HELM revelations of 2015-2016. A plan for “mastering the human domain.” A plan made possible by companies like Raytheon which have been pushing a thing called BBN AI technology, a highly sophisticated technological platform that incorporates super high speed real-time learning, adaptation and awareness features. (See video below for more.)

Solutions

Stopping the agenda of the technocrats is the solution. People everywhere must step up, begin paying attention and start fighting back. And the very first thing we need to do is shine a bright light on this issue, spread the awareness and hope that enough people see the problem. That means educating the stubborn “Progressive” Liberal Left and anyone else who has a blind faith in technology. This awareness must then turn into action. Here are some solutions.

1- Throw away, disable or stop using your smart phone or any smart device around your home for that matter.

2- Replace your smart phone with a non-smart phone.

3- Change your paradigm and see if you can free yourself from cell phones altogether.

4- Realize that smart phones and smart devices are slowly being pulled into the equation for work and survival. Demand that your boss (if you work for someone) not force you to use a smart device. Let’s challenge the legality of this now growing practice and problem. Just focusing and pointing to the dangers of EMF waves emitted by these devices alone may give us the legal authority to stop employers from requiring the use of these devices.

5- If you must have a cell phone (like many of us do) then learn all the safest ways to use it which include among other things keeping it as far away from your body as possible.

6- As best you can, stop texting your friends and family for every little thing and go back to talking to each other and meeting in person.

7- Make a focused effort to raise awareness of this issue and help spread the word.

Finally, realize that Technocracy is just another form of oppression. Despite all the voices of today that glorify technological advancements, realize that humans are made to move around and work while on earth. It’s the large corporations that want to replace all forms of labor with robots. It’s the ruling elite in control of the nation states that want every form of behavior recorded with the aid of their technology and very little to none of this actually benefits humanity. While many inventions of the 19th century improved the human experience the technological advancements of today are going far beyond what humanity needs to be happy and healthy. Let’s learn to identify this problem quickly so we can implement solutions today and now.

Which Is To Be Master, That Is All

April 22, 2017

Dr. Farrell has many times described his concern for the compartmentalized halls of science and the “devil-may-care” attitude that research scientists take towards the implications and end-results of research projects. The progressive science meme has operated for a long time and shows only the occasional sign of caution (such as Google’s Kill Switch). It’s mostly a car without brakes careening into the future. It’s as if science is trying to outrun humanity’s black swan probability by risking black swans of its own.

With that in mind, I came across the following article in ScienceAlert:

“Scientists say it’s possible to build a new type of self-replicating computer that replaces silicon chips with processors made from DNA molecules, and it would be faster than any other form of computer ever proposed – even quantum computers.

Called a nondeterministic universal Turing machine (NUTM), it’s predicted that the technology could execute all possible algorithms at once by taking advantage of DNA’s ability to replicate almost perfect copies of itself over billions of years.

The basic idea is that our current electronic computers are based on a finite number of silicon chips, and we’re fast approaching the limit for how many we can actually fit in our machines.

To address this limitation, researchers are currently working on making quantum computers a reality – super-powerful devices that replace the bits of electronic computers with quantum-entangled particles called qubits.

Despite concerted efforts all over the world, no one has managed to build a fully functioning quantum computer.

But the secret third option here is a DNA-based machine that gets all the benefits of a quantum computer, without the headache of quantum weirdness, because it’s based on DNA doing what DNA does best – replicating.”

Ever since the Nazi’s developed transistors in the 1930’s, which operate in Boolean logic based upon the states of “On” and “Off”, scientists have been looking for ways to exponentially increase the “throughput” of thinking machines.

Starting in the 1960’s, it was realized that eventually miniaturizing transistors would run into overcrowding. Down in the nanoscale world of the silicon semi-conductor, it’s a veritable four-dimensional game of quantum bowling where pins and bowling balls are flying all over the place and showing up where they don’t belong.

The need for scalable information processing absorbs many billions of dollars of research worldwide and that’s just in the public domain. Now, let’s get to the papers published in the proceedings of the Royal Society.

Proceedings of the Royal Society

The basis of the effort is the goal of creating something called a non-deterministic Universal Turing Machine (NUTM).  The authors briefly touch on a core issue in mathematics today which is the problem of computing non-polynomial numbers. They describe a computing device that is a form of analogical computer, a device first envisioned by Wilfred Leibnitz in 1680 in his search for the characteristica universalis and analysis situs.

The team has performed in vitro application of DNA to solve the problems of computation of special, difficult polynomials. The team describes the many benefits of using DNA in computation.  To put all of this in “country diner” simple terms, the effort here is to utilize cellular mechanics, DNA, RNA, CRISPR and all the other tools of genetic and cellular manipulation to allow a DNA-NUTM to spawn a fantastic number of “threads” using DNA that is encoded and programmed using a new programming language (2002) called Thue (too-ay) to tell it what to do. The platform portends to solve intractable problems. But what problems could it create?

The authors quite openly describe their motivation:

“A major motivation for this work is to engineer a general-purpose way of controlling cells. The natural way cells are controlled is a very complex combination of DNA, RNA, protein, and small-molecule interactions (supplemented by epigenetics, etc.) with multilevel control implemented through specific chemical interactions. This makes cells very difficult to reprogram. Synthetic biology has sought to control cells through the design of simple switches, circuits, etc. and has some notable successes. However, we argue that a more radical and general approach is required: a DNA UTM. This would in principle enable arbitrary biological processes to be programmed and executed. The UTM could receive biological signals from the environment through interaction with transcription factors, etc. It could also use as effectors RNA/proteins generated using special sequences and RNA polymerase, etc.” [Emphasis mine].

And the rules for how these Thue-NUTM systems operate follow the language rules of Chomsky Grammar. That is, they have a grammar and this “language” governs the process through time.

In other words, this “device”, a relentless, threading, universal computing platform, intended for reprogramming animal (and human) biology using universal grammar that speaks DNA and solves really hard math problems or any problem that can be programmed. What if the program is: “learn how to escape from the lab.” If it is a UTM, a “universal” turing machine, it can solve any problem, given enough threads. It’s a platform that keeps spawning until it is informed that one of the threads has found the answer and according to the authors is limited only by the size of space itself and is time independent. This is the Holy Grail of generalized processing. This is a BIG deal.

On the benefit side this type of technology, if perfected, would make amazing discoveries. It would nearly enable pure bio-artificial intelligence, an alchemical machine.  Calling it an exponential improvement does not even cover it. It is a game-changing platform.

Dr. Farrell and I have had some discussions discussing why…

3D Printing Scrapbook: Additive Manufacturing On The Moon & Mars

Source: GizaDeathStar.com
Dr. Joseph P. Farrell Ph.D.
April 21, 2017

A few weeks ago I blogged about the possibilities of additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, for the construction of permanent buildings and dwellings on the Moon and Mars, utilizing the actual “Moon dust” and “Mars dust” found on the surface of those planets. For those who’ve been following the meme of mining asteroids, or the Moon, or Mars, the idea has definite overhead implications, for back in the late 1950s and 1960s when the USA and the Soviet Union were hatching projects for permanent human colonies on the Moon, the basic premise was that everything would have to be hauled up there and assembled in place. Gradually, things began to change. But the idea of using materials of those planets themselves to construct facilities was not part of the initial phases for establishing  such facilities. That, in their thinking back then, came at a much later phase.

But now there’s this important story, shared by Mr. M.H.:

New method for 3-D printing extraterrestrial materials

Note, this was a Google-sponsored study, using NASA-approved lunar and Mars dust simulants, to do a basic “proof of concept” experiment to demonstrate that one can, indeed, use such materials to manufacture tools and perhaps, ultimately, dwellings and other human facilities:

“For places like other planets and moons, where resources are limited, people would need to use what is available on that planet in order to live,” said Shah, assistant professor of materials science and engineering at Northwestern’s McCormick School of Engineering and of surgery in the Feinberg School of Medicine. “Our 3D paints really open up the ability to print different functional or structural objects to make habitats beyond Earth.”

Partially supported by a gift from Google and performed at Northwestern’s Simpson Querrey Institute, the research was recently published in Nature Scientific Reports. Adam Jakus, a Hartwell postdoctoral fellow in Shah’s TEAM lab, was the paper’s first author.

Shah’s research uses NASA-approved lunar and Martian dust simulants, which have similar compositions, particle shapes, and sizes to the dusts found on lunar and Martian surfaces. Shah’s team created the lunar and Martian 3D paints using the respective dusts, a series of simple solvents, and biopolymer, then 3D printed them with a simple extrusion process. The resulting structures are over 90 percent dust by weight.

Despite being made of rigid micro-rocks, the resulting 3D-painted material is flexible, elastic, and tough — similar to rubber. This is the first example of rubber-like or soft materials resulting from lunar and Martian simulant materials. The material can be cut, rolled, folded, and otherwise shaped after being 3D painted, if desired.

“We even 3D-printed interlocking bricks, similar to Legos, that can be used as building blocks,” Shah said.

This, of course, is a huge step in the development of permanent human habitations off planet, and, of course, for the commercialization of space in the form of mining celestial bodies, for the ability to manufacture needed tools on the spot, rather than drag them from Earth, is a crucial step in reducing launch weights, and as long as we’re thinking in terms of chemical rockets, launch weights, thrusts, and escape velocities, these developments are important. (Of course, I’m not backing off one iota from my belief that to be talking of permanent human habitations on other planets in the solar system, or of asteroid mining, is really to be implying a very different technology than chemical rockets. I’m simply using the chemical rocket model here for the purpose of discussion.)

As a proof of concept experiment, this is important, and it immediately points the way to the next step and stage, and hence to today’s high octane speculation and prediction. To be absolutely certain of the viability of additive manufacturing as a means of creating tools or eventually even habitats or dwellings on other celestial bodies, one will necessarily have to take a 3d printer to those bodies, land them on the surface, and quite literally scoop up the dust and see if it can be used to manufacture something under the more extreme conditions on those bodies. The next stage, in other words, will be for the space-faring powers to design lunar or Martian landers that will include a 3D printer and the experimental equipment needed to verify the feasibility of additive manufacturing on other celestial bodies. NASA has already taken a printer into space and printed simple tools in zero gravity, so this would be the next logical step.

We can expect, in other words, China, Japan, India, Russia, the Europeans, and the USA, to begin planning some such experiment in the near future (if they have not already covertly done so).

See you on the flip side…

Negative Mass Created…?

alternative news
Source: GizaDeathStar.com
Dr. Joseph P. Farrell Ph.D.
April 19, 2017

Well, folks, I’m back… sort of. I’m still quite tired, and trying to rest as much as possible. As you may have guessed my sore throat was more than that, it was full blown tonsilitis which had to be beaten back by anti-biotic IV drips and you name it. So as I indicated yesterday, Ms. K.M. has graciously contributed some new blogs to our “contributor posts” category to help tide things through.  For those wondering about the lost vidchat, yes, I do plan to reschedule, probably around the end of the month, as soon as I think my voice will stand the strain and not land me back in the same mess.

Meanwhile, of course, the news does not stop, and this story was seen and shared by so many I have to blog about it, and, of course, indulge my taste for high octane speculation. Indeed, this story has so many implications for our world I don’t know where to begin. Nonetheless, here it is: physicists have created a substance, in this case, ruibidium apparently suspended in a solution, and then super-cooled, with negative mass:

Physicists create fluid with ‘negative mass’

Researchers used lasers to cool the liquid in a tiny bowl. When scientists broke the bowl, the rubidium atoms rushed outwards. Scientists applied a second set of lasers to alter the spin of the out-rushing atoms. As a result, the atoms took on negative mass.

“Once you push, it accelerates backwards,” said Forbes. “It looks like the rubidium hits an invisible wall.”

Researchers say their latest experiments — detailed in the journal Physical Review Letters — were simpler and offered greater control over negative mass than previous attempts.

Where’s the high octane here? For one thing, it confirms in a major way what has long been suspected, namely, that matter near absolute zero would take on coherent properties and perhaps exhibit kontrabaric (negative mass) properties. This has been suspected since Evgenny Podkletnov first noticed strange “negative mass” like properties when experimenting in the 1990s with super-conducting rings. One effect is that negative mass – as the article indicates, and if we may speak analogically – acts as a kind of phase conjugation mirror: force applied moves it not in the direction of the applied force, but against it. Now, I mention that strange analogy simply to exhibit one possible use of this negative mass effect: phase conjugation, of an apparently almost perfect nature, which of course, would have benefits for various optical technologies, including, of course, weaponry applications. That of course is stretching things way beyond the article, and in a very bizarre direction, going way out on to the end of the twig where the weight of the speculation far exceeds the evidence and reasoning strength of the twig. Perhaps I’m simply loopy and still feeling the aftereffects of antibiotics. Then again, such bizarre brainstorming is a trademark of people in various agencies, say, like DARPA. We’ll get back to them in a moment.

However, and as I think will be obvious, the much more interesting possibility here are the lift and propulsion possibilities. Obviously, negative mass isn’t quite the same thing as “anti-gravity”, but it’s in the same stadium, and, most importantly, the new experiment is much simpler in terms of its mechanisms of controlling the phenomenon:

Researchers say their latest experiments — detailed in the journal Physical Review Letters — were simpler and offered greater control over negative mass than previous attempts.

“What’s a first here is the exquisite control we have over the nature of this negative mass, without any other complications,” said Forbes.

Now, normally my “routine” here is to do the “high octane speculation” stuff last, and then sign off with my usual “see you on the flip side.” But today I hope you noticed something about that article, which is why I got to the high octane speculation stuff first. Notice, that as far as the article is concerned, the new “negative mass” fluid is good for only a few “practical applications” that will not directly impact the world our children or grandchildren will live in:

The success may allow for exploration of strange phenomena like black holes and neutron stars.

Black holes and neutron stars. From a substance with negative mass, that accelerates in the opposite direction of any force applied to it.

I can hear the guys at the Diabolically Apocalyptic Research Projects Agency (DARPA) even now: “Yup. That’s about it folks. Neutron stars and black holes. Nothing to see here, just a bunch of arcane theoretical stuff. No practical applications. Move along… nothing to see here…”

Now, what if we spun a bunch of this stuff up in the… oh never mind…

But speaking of “spin”, here’s another version of the story:

https://news.wsu.edu/2017/04/10/negative-mass-created-at-wsu/

Note, this statement:

To create negative mass, the researchers applied a second set of lasers that kicked the atoms back and forth and changed the way they spin. Now when the rubidium rushes out fast enough, if behaves as if it has negative mass.

In other words, the implication is that rotation, and mass, are related, and if that’s the case, then perhaps we’re looking at a phenomenon with broken symmetry and polarity. Electrogravitics, anyone?

See you on the flip side…
