The Gutenberg press was the catalyst for the Renaissance and the Reformation, but it shaped what we communicated as much as how we communicated. What, then, to make of the electronic global village of our modern Gutenberg revolution? Are we on the cusp of a new Renaissance, or will this technology only further degrade a culture already in decline? The promise of the Internet: Library of Alexandria or Library of Babel?

Tonight, on History… So It Doesn’t Repeat: we discuss the past, present, and future of public schooling, with Charlotte Iserbyt, former Sr. Policy Advisor for the U.S. Department of Education. We’ll discover the root cause of the Deliberate Dumbing Down of Americans. Learning’s the answer. What’s the Question? It’s all coming up on History… So It Doesn’t Repeat!
In this phenomenal interview researcher Richard Groves, from TragedyAndHope.com interviews award winning teacher John Taylor Gatto on the surreptitious history of public schooling in America.
Here are some of Gatto’s scathing remarks on about what modern schooling is all about and the truth behind it:
“…schools and schooling are increasingly irrelevant to the great enterprises of the planet. No one believes anymore that scientists are trained in science classes or politicians in civics classes or poets in English classes. The truth is that schools don’t really teach anything except how to obey orders.”[1][Bold Emphasis Added]
“Schools are intended to produce, through the application of formulas, formulaic human beings whose behavior can be predicted and controlled.”[2][Bold Emphasis Added]
“It is absurd and anti-life to be part of the system that compels you to sit in confinement with people of exactly the same age and social class. That system effectively cuts you off from the immense diversity of life and the synergy of variety; indeed it cuts you off from your own past and future, sealing you in a continuous present much the same way television does.”[3][Bold Emphasis Added]
“Mass education cannot work to produce a fair society because its daily practice is practice in rigged competition, suppression and intimidation. The schools we’ve allowed to develop can’t work to teach nonmaterial values, the values which give meaning to everyone’s life, rich or poor, because the structure of schooling is held together by a Byzantine tapestry of reward and threat, of carrots and sticks. Official favor, grades, and other trinkets of subordination have no connection with education; they are the paraphernalia of servitude, not of freedom.”[4][Bold Emphasis Added]
“Aristotle saw, a long time ago, that fully participating in a complex range of human affairs was the only way to become fully human…”[5][Bold Emphasis Added]
“You need to recognize that the forces at work today to standardize and centralize education and all other aspects of your life are exactly the same ones we fought a Revolution against more than two hundred years ago. The same dreary people, the ones who think we are permanent children, or just machinery to be adjusted, are still in charge.”[6]
On the premiere episode of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, host, Ryan Sprague, introduces the listeners to the show and then speaks with historian and author, Richard Dolan, about the media and UFOs. They also discuss the possibility and forms of disclosure that may occur in a new American political era, and then they wrap things up by confronting the future of UFO studies. Richard Dolan is the author of two volumes of history, ‘UFOs and the National Security State’, both ground-breaking works which together provide the most factually complete and accessible narrative of the UFO subject available anywhere. He also co-authored a speculative book about the future, ‘A.D. After Disclosure’, the first-ever analysis not only of how UFO secrecy might end, but of the all-important question: what happens next Richard’s latest work, ‘UFOs for the 21st Century Mind’, provides a fresh treatment of the entire subject. In it, he discusses the important sightings, the encounters, the politics, the cover-up, ancient aliens, the bizarre science, disclosure, and offers advice on being both critical and open-minded in today’s world. Like his previous three books, it asks fresh questions and offers new insights to further our understanding of the UFO mystery. Richard hosts a weekly radio show, The Richard Dolan Show on KGRA Radio, is a frequent guest on Coast-to-Coast AM. He is currently featured on several television series and documentaries, including Ancient Aliens, Hangar One: The UFO Files, Close Encounters, and UFOs: The Lost Evidence. Prior to his interest in UFOs, Richard completed his graduate work at the University of Rochester, where he studied U.S. Cold War strategy, European history, and international diplomacy. Before that, he had studied at Alfred University and Oxford University, and had been a finalist for a Rhodes scholarship. In addition to his research, Richard’s company, Richard Dolan Press, actively publishes innovative books by authors from around the world. His website is http://www.richarddolanpress.com
In the video below, former New York State Teacher of the Year and “The World’s Most Courageous Teacher”, author and whistleblower John Taylor Gatto, speaks at length about pervasive and deleterious issues which surround compulsory schooling, which not only are in its current fashion imposed to make children conform, but also to remove the create nature of children, thereby making them easier to manage. But that’s only the beginning…
