1st Quantum Link Between Banks In Russia

Over the years, as we’ve been watching the emerging of the Shanghai Cooperation organization (a.k.a. the BRICSA bloc), and the Chinese Silk Road project, I and many others have been arguing that if the project is to be genuinely viable and an alternative to the American unipolarism generally, and its virtual monopoly on international financial clearing particularly, it will have to be buttressed by its own international financial clearing system, one moreover both secure and free from meddling by the powers it serves, trust being the key issue for the users of such a system.

There are potentially other factors in play for the creation of such a system, and those are the potentialities of a threat from space. In the event of hostilities engulfing space – human or otherwise – redundancy in the international clearing systems is a must.

With that in mind, Russia just took another major step in fleshing out the parameters of that system, and a major step as well in securing its domestic clearing operations, according to this Sputnik article shared by Ms. S.:

Russian Physicists Create First Working Secure Quantum Link Between Two Banks

What’s notable here is that while China has been perfecting the space-to-ground and ground-to-space links for quantum communications systems, Russia appears to have concentrated on actual practical systems for current financial and institutional use:

Sberbank became the first company to receive the new quantum protection system, developed by the Moscow-based Russian Quantum Center (RQC). According to RQC general-director Ruslan Yunusov, the service is now ready for widespread use by companies and organizations.

Physicists and engineers from RQC have launched the first working quantum link between two Sberbank branches, transferring real financial data using highly a secure connection, the research organization’s press service has reported.

“Thanks to quantum communication technology, we have provided for a high frequency of key generation, thus dramatically increasing the level of data protection. Russian organizations will get the opportunity to use a system created in our own country to protect their information, which is important for the state,” Yunusov said.

The special, 25 km-long line between Sberbank’s central office and a branch near the city center is protected via the phenomenon of quantum entanglement.(Empasis added)

It’s that intriguing point about using hardware developed in Russia to create what may very well be the first commercial and operational such link that caught my eye, and prompts today’s high octane speculation. Why? Consider the Russian achievement in the wider context of two stories that emerged last year: (1) the Chinese success with quantum communications between the Earth and space and vice versa, and (2) India’s space program’s feat of a mass launch of small satellites – nearly fifty – in the short span of two weeks, and almost mind-boggling administrative and technical achievement.

It’s when one puts these three things together and “views them whole” that one gets an intriguing possible picture, a picture of strategized coordination between the three major BRICS bloc powers, and the build-out of a system of financial clearing. If that high octane speculative read of the situation is true, then it appears that China is testing the space-based -high tech components, Russia is testing the ground-based inter-institutional links, and India is testing the ability to deploy massive space assets quickly and – as it were – suddenly. China has already built its CIPS clearing system, and we could be looking at something posed for something much bigger…

What might that be?

Well, to crawl way out on the end of the twig of speculation, perhaps it might be the building of interplanetary aspects of financial clearing. Think about it: we’ve seen stories of asteroid minining, space mining, NASA wanting broadband internet on the Moon and (eventually) Mars, and don’t think for a moment India, China, and Russia intend on being left out.

US Missile Defense: Russia, China & The Moon

When Mr. “B” shared the following article with me, along with his thought-provoking email, I had to read the article. Sure enough, I did so, with his predicted “jaw dropper” reaction:

Russia and China Team up Against US ‘Defensive’ Expansion

While there have been a spate of articles recently about growing Russo-Chinese defense and security ties, matching their growing financial and economic ties, this one left me stunned, for there was a statement within it that caught my eye, and Mr. B’s as well, and I’m sure the reader saw it as well. As one can imagine, this one fueled my “high octane speculation” mode to the nth degree. Here’s the statement, and a bit of surrounding context:

Russia and China are tired of Washington’s “defensive” military installations in their backyards — and they’re already taking action.

According to the Atlantic Council and other responsible thinkers, the United States reserves the right to park its missile shields anywhere it wants, whether it be in Europe, East Asia, or the dark side of the Moon. This is because placing missile shields all over the place is an important cornerstone of Washington’s ingenious plot to encourage Beijing and Moscow to put aside their differences and form a long-term security and military partnership.

Take for example Washington’s decision to deploy Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) systems to South Korea.

The Americans claim that their missile defense systems will defend the free world against North Korea. But do they think Putin and Xi were born yesterday? (Emphasis added)

There is, to be sure, a very  tongue-in-cheek attitude in the article, for example, this statement from the second paragraph quoted above:

This is because placing missile shields all over the place is an important cornerstone of Washington’s ingenious plot to encourage Beijing and Moscow to put aside their differences and form a long-term security and military partnership.

But as the article points out, American unipolarism, and its result in pushing Russia and China together, has been a disastrous policy (at least, for the USA):

As China expert Jeff J. Brown explained in an interview:

If the US strikes either China or Russia first, it’s probably World War III and humanity ceases to function as we know it. While there is no announced treaty alliance, we have no way of knowing what Russia and China have agreed to secretly. It is also possible that China and Russia have told NATO back channel to the effect, “You mess with one of us, you deal with us both”. I’ve always wondered if that might be the case, given America’s reluctance to push the pedal to the metal in the Ukraine and the South China Sea.

Now, why am I bothering you with all this. Well, consider, the “tongue-in-cheek” tone appears only once in the article, and that in order to make a very important point about the results of US policy to deploy missile defense systems “all over the place,” in other words, the tongue-in-cheek tone refers to a reality, as Russia and China see it.

And that raises the issue Mr. “B” raised in his email with me: there is no distinction made in the article between the US placing missile defense systems in Eastern Europe, Eastern Asia or “the dark side of the Moon.”  As he put it, was this a subtle way of Russia and China saying “we know what you have up there?”

Well, perhaps. But while you’re pondering that possibility, remember that China wants to have a mission to place satellites around the Moon in such a way as to allow them to permanently monitor the “dark” side of it. Why? Because they actually want to send a manned mission to the Moon to land on the dark side, and in order for that to work, and maintain communications with the homeland, a satellite relay network will have to be constructed first. Did Russia Insider just tell us the motivation for that Chinese plan?

More Space News: Grand Duchy Of Luxembourg Affirms Rights To Space…

Just a couple of weeks ago I blogged about the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s attempts to position itself as a leader in space-mining finance. As I argued then, Luxembourg has long been an international banking hub, and hence its decision to move into this area is not surprising. As I averred in that previous blog, space is a perfect way to mask all sorts of financial chicanery, and a convenient way to launder money or profits by overstating, or understating, certain numbers on one’s ledger books. After all, to catch such dubious dealings, one has to literally go out there and put boots on the asteroids, so to speak, and “see for oneself”. It’s a perfect way, in short, to extend that hidden system of finance I’ve been talking about so much over the past few years. Not only was space perhaps “secretly collateralized,” but it provides virtually limitless opportunities for cooking the books: say “Space Mining and Widgets” claims to have found vast resources on an asteroid in X quadrillions of dollars. One really wouldn’t know if that was the case unless one went there and independently verified it, beyond the usual means of spectrographic analysis and so on. Such analysis, or space probes collecting soil samples and so on, would provide margins of error, of course, but within those margins it could be a veritable playground for clever “bookkeeping.” Physicists and chemists become “interplanetary assayers for hire”, so to speak.

Well, here’s another intriguing story that was shared by Ms. C, and you’ll note the dateline – Nov 13, 2016 – puts this story once again into that weird context of the American election and its aftermath, a temporal frame in which we’ve seen a variety of other space-related stories coming out, including those which I blogged about yesterday. This one, however, is another “whopper doozie”:

Space Mining: Luxembourg’s New Law To Give Private Companies Right To Outer Space Resources

You’ll note that the Grand Duchy is, in effect, attempting to follow what has already essentially been decided in the US, and to become the first European country – notably an international banking hub to boot – to grant ownership of resources extracted from near Earth objects like asteroids:

“The legal framework we put in place is perfectly in line with the Outer Space Treaty. Our law does not suggest to either establish or imply in any way sovereignty over a territory or over a celestial body. Only the appropriation of space resources is addressed in the legal framework,” Etienne Schneider, deputy prime minister and minister of the economy, said in an official announcement of the draft law.

According to Article 1 of the draft law, space resources are capable of being appropriated in accordance with international law. This makes Luxembourg the first European country to provide legal ownership of external space resources.

Of course, one can quibble about the niceties of international law and what does or does not constitute “sovereignty,” but the bottom line remains that is one is extracting resources from a piece of land on Earth or elsewhere, one is in essence asserting sovereignty. And this is a pattern, like I argued last week, that could equally be applied to the “East Indies” companies of yesteryear, which effectively extended British and Dutch sovereignty via corporate cut-outs to encompass empires that engulfed lands far from The Hague or London.

The Space Weather Executive Order – Speculations

So many people sent me articles about President Obama’s recent Executive Order regarding space weather that to neglect the story would have been almost a dereliction. As readers here are now aware, over the past week I’ve been blogging about space and UFO related matters. The reason why is simply that in addition to so many people emailing me versions of the Executive Order story, is that it occurred in the context of other such stories that I began to wonder if there was a connection between them and the order. We’ll get to that in today’s high octane speculation in a moment. But I want to recall two other things that I blogged about prior to this past week, and those are the strange statements coming out of Russia, and Iraq. Recall in that regard that a Russian spokeswoman warned of “tectonic consequences” if the USSA continued on course of its current chaos-inducing policies in the Middle East. As I argued then, that statement could be seen as a statement implying “tectonic shifts” in the geopolitical balance of forces. Or it could also be interpreted as a warning about the use of tectonic, earthquake weapons, or indeed both.

Similarly, the Iraqi transportation minister came out with a strange statement about Iraq being the home to ancient space ports, and he references the works of famous and now-deceased alternative researcher Zechariah Sitchin. Two days later, you’ll recall, the Russian general in charge of Russian forces in Syria, Igor Konshenkov, told the world that the Russian air defense systems in Syria were now operational, and that their range would be a “surprise” to “all unidentified flying objects,” a phrase that again could be taken in two senses: (1) unidentified aircraft in Syrian airspace, or (2) UFOs. Either way, the Russian general is not naive and chose his words carefully. And given the strange spate of Wikileaks emails we’ve examined this week about former Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell warning John Podesta about “space wars,” the Russian general’s comment take on yet another context suggesting that the second sense of his remarks cannot be excluded from the interpretive possibilities.

Which brings us to Mr. Obama’s Executive Order:

Executive Order — Coordinating Efforts to Prepare the Nation for Space Weather Events

One could produce volumes of high octane speculation concerning this order, but I wish to focus on the following paragraphs:

It is the policy of the United States to prepare for space weather events to minimize the extent of economic loss and human hardship. The Federal Government must have (1) the capability to predict and detect a space weather event, (2) the plans and programs necessary to alert the public and private sectors to enable mitigating actions for an impending space weather event, (3) the protection and mitigation plans, protocols, and standards required to reduce risks to critical infrastructure prior to and during a credible threat, and (4) the ability to respond to and recover from the effects of space weather. Executive departments and agencies (agencies) must coordinate their efforts to prepare for the effects of space weather events.

…

Sec. 3. Coordination. (a) The Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), in consultation with the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), shall coordinate the development and implementation of Federal Government activities to prepare the Nation for space weather events, including the activities established in section 5 of this order and the recommendations of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), established by Executive Order 12881 of November 23, 1993 (Establishment of the National Science and Technology Council).

…

(a) The Secretary of Defense shall ensure the timely provision of operational space weather observations, analyses, forecasts, and other products to support the mission of the Department of Defense and coalition partners, including the provision of alerts and warnings for space weather phenomena that may affect weapons systems, military operations, or the defense of the United States.

(b) The Secretary of the Interior shall support the research, development, deployment, and operation of capabilities that enhance the understanding of variations of the Earth’s magnetic field associated with solar-terrestrial interactions.

…

(b) “Space weather” means variations in the space environment between the Sun and Earth (and throughout the solar system) that can affect technologies in space and on Earth. The primary types of space weather events are solar flares, solar energetic particles, and geomagnetic disturbances.

When one considers the entirety of the order in the context of these excerpted paragraphs,  some disturbing high octane speculative potentials and implications emerge.

(1) The reference to the involvement of the Department of Defense raises the possibility that the Order cloaks an ultimately military purpose and agenda, as does the reference to the Department of Homeland Security’s counterrorism mission. Years ago, it will be recalled, Defense Secretary William Cohen during the Clinton Administration warned about terrorist groups having access to unconventional weapons of mass destruction, i.e., WMD’s that were not nuclear, biological, or chemical in nature. Mr. Obama’s Executive Order seems to be in line with this train of thinking.

(2) As such, the order raises the possibility that “space weather” may be the cloak behind which to disguise a weaponization of solar events, or the weaponized use by others of such events.

(3) In either case, one would be dealing with a “Farrell Corollary” to the Kardashev classification system, and hence with a “space war”. To refresh people’s memories, in my book Covert Wars and Breakaway Civilizations, I argued that if one were faced with a potential threat emanating from a Type I or II civilization in the Kardashev scheme, the way to respond to such a threat would be to leverage or engineer systems of planetary or stellar scale and to weaponize them in a kind of Mutually Assured Destruction doctrine. In the Kardashev scheme, class I and II civilizations are civilizations requiring the energy output of an entire planet, or star, respectively. Thus, leveraging or engineering such systems would give the appearance to any potential threat of being in a class I or II category.

(4) The reference to “understanding … variations of the Earth’s magnetic field associated with solar-terrestrial interactions” is precisely the kind of study I hypothesized might exist in connection with the operations of CERN’s large hadron collider, and with the growing evidence of its potential impact on the planetary magnetosphere, which could induce resonance-coupling effects in the Sun (see my The Third Way). I thus speculate and hypothesize that the Executive Order has now made that possibility public in a kind of backhanded way.

(5) The definition of space weather as anything in the “space environment” that “can affect technologies in space and on Earth” is a confirmation of the ultimately implicit military purpose of the order.

Of course, all of this is, indeed, very high octane speculation going far beyond the plain language of the text. But within the context of all that has been surveyed in the past days, and in the context of the strange remarks coming from Iraq’s transportation minister and – much more importantly – from Russian Major General Konshenkov, this reading I do not think in the final analysis can be definitively excluded.

If you’ve been following my blogs for the past few days, you’ll be aware of the fact that I’ve been concentrating on a variety of space-and-UFO-related stories that in my opinion form a necessary backdrop and context from which to view President Obama’s recent executive order concerning space weather. And it has been a strange concoction indeed, from Wikileaks emails dumps to the macabre and bizarre death of Max Spiers, a British UFO researcher who also investigated occult connections, and died in a manner suggesting occult aspects were at work, and so on. Today’s ingredient in this soup is the following story, shared by many readers of this website:

Scientists plan to create ‘Asgardia’ nation state in space

I’ve blogged previously about the European (Franco-German) Space Agency’s plans to build a permanent space station at the neutral point of gravity between the Earth and the Moon, and I strongly suspect this story is connected to that.

When reading this article, something leaped out at me, and I hope it did you as well. Consider the implications of the following:

A group of scientists is launching what they say will be a new pacifist nation-state in space.

Asgardia “will become a place in orbit which is truly ‘no man’s land’,” its website says.

The new “nation” aims to launch its first satellite late next year and hopes to one day be recognised by the UN.

But some experts have cast doubt on the viability of the plan, given international law prohibits national sovereignty claims in outer space.

…

Professor Sa’id Mosteshar, director of the London Institute of Space Policy and Law, cast doubt on the idea that Asgardia would be recognised under international law.

“The Outer Space Treaty… accepted by everybody says very clearly that no part of outer space can be appropriated by any state,” he said.

Given Asgardia will not be associated with a self-governing territory, with its ‘citizens’ remaining on earth, its prospects for recognition are slim, he added.

I suspect that Professor Mosteshar might not be perceiving what is the implicit argument behind the founding of “Asgardia,” and it is something that I have argued in previous blogs, namely, that the global centralization project seems to have run into some difficulty here on earth, with the BREXIT vote, other European nations now increasingly voicing opposition to the whole EU project, and also with the Trump campaign’s “Americanism not Globalism” slogan. Globalization is in my opinion an inevitability. But the globalists have managed to convince many – without much by way of real argument – that this requires a massive global central government, which, of course, will be massively unresponsive to cultural and regional needs, much less to local conditions and markets. As a result, I argued that the centralizers, the classic “Mr. Global,” were opting for a “top down” approach, i.e., one rooted in space.

Enter Asgardia.

While current space treaties do indeed prohibit the extension of Earth-bound national sovereignties, they do not seem to me to exclude sovereignties of different sorts, namely (1) corporate sovereignties, and (2) the establishment of a “national” sovereignty not tied to any Earth-based nation, but in fact, established ab origine in space itself, which is what the Asgardia approach seems to be suggesting.

Wikileaks, The Vatican & Covert Space Wars

Over the past few days I’ve been blogging about the rash of very strange space-and-UFO-related stories that seem to form a context from which to read President Obama’s recent executive Order concerning space weather, and that context has included everything from the macabre and bizarre death of a UFO researcher in Poland to a set of Wikileaks emails implying that some sort of very deep politics – to utilize Professor Peter Dale Scott’s term – is taking place behind the scenes in the past few months, and particularly, in the past couple of weeks. I’ve already referred to the strange wikileaks emails concerning contact between Podesta – campaign manager for Darth Hillary – and former Blink 182 rock star Tom DeLonge, who retired from the group to pursue his research and interest in UFOs and who recently co-authored an entertaining novel on that subject:

Now I don’t know about you, but I have difficulty believing that anyone as highly placed as Mr. Podesta, or anyone as famous as Mr. DeLonge, would be planning meetings to discuss rock music.

But the story has broadened and deepened considerably by other Wikileaks detailing similar correspondence between the recently-deceased Apollo astronaut Ed Mitchell, and Mr. Podesta. Interestingly enough, the story gained some traction in Russia’s media outlet, RT:

According to the first RT article, Mitchell made reference to a war in space, and of course, to how kindly space brothers are willing to share their knowledge of zero point energy in return for a human pledge of “no violence in space”:

“Because the War in Space race is heating up, I felt you should be aware of several factors as you and I schedule our Skype talk,” Mitchell, who died in February, tells Podesta in the mails from 2015, before mentioning a “nonviolent” alien species that wishes to share with mankind “zero point energy.”

…

Mitchell, who includes in his email signature that he’s the “6th man to walk on the Moon,” warns Podesta that the “nonviolent ETI” are helping to share zero point energy with Earth but will not “tolerate any forms of military violence on Earth or in space.”

Notably, Mitchell does not advance any argument or details about the “War in Space race” that is “heating up,” which opens the door to all sorts of high octane speculation: does he mean a war that is already going on? or a coming and planned “space war” (which seems to be the most probably interpretation of his remarks)? And just who are these “non-violent ETIs”? How does Mitchell know them? How does he know they’re non-violent?

And most importantly: what’s the quid pro quo? What is Earth offering in return for all of this bountiful technology, a technology which, if you’ve been following my research on the subject in various books over the years, and this past week’s blogs, isn’t all that beyond human theorization and engineering anyway?

For me, there’s a disturbing hidden set of implications to Mitchell’s “logic” and that disturbing implication is evident in the people he is contacting: if ETI is non-violent, why not step in and put a stop to it now? And more importantly, why would ETI want to deal with a political party and philosophy that has for decades been at the forefront of abortion on demand, and bombing the daylights out of millions of innocent Muslims and tearing their countries apart? This suggests to me that there’s a moral cognitive dissonance at work with Mr. Mitchell’s ETIs, and that makes me question that little matter of the quid pro quo.

All this brings us to the second article, and recalls the strange death of UFO investigator Max Spiers which I blogged about a few days ago. Consider these statements from the second RT article:

John Podesta arranged a meeting with astronaut Edgar Mitchell to discuss the US government disclosing information to the public on aliens, according to emails leaked by WikiLeaks. The meeting was described as a prelude to involving President Barack Obama in the discussion.

“Our government is still operating from outdated beliefs and policies” Mitchell wrote in the email from 2014, in which he requested “a conversation with you and President Obama regarding the next steps in extraterrestrial disclosure for the benefit of our country and our planet.”

Mitchell, the sixth man to walk on the moon, said the information needed to be disclosed to allow humans to achieve “planet sustainability generation energies,” as well exploring the cosmos without reverting to “colonialism and destruction” and as a way for the government to respectfully regard “the wisdom and intellect of its citizens as we move into space.”

In the email, Mitchell claimed that the US government made a conscious decision 50 years ago to “remove knowledge of the extraterrestrial presence from the citizens of our country.” This decision is no longer relevant, according to Mitchell, who said it is detrimental to “science, religion, and responsible citizenry.”

Podesta’s assistant, Eryn Sepp, accepted the invitation, but said, “John would likely take this meeting alone first before involving the President.”

The former astronaut, who died earlier in 2016, had communicated with Podesta via email before, warning him of an impending space war as well as Vatican knowledge of extraterrestrials.

Podesta, who is heading Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, is known for his UFO fervor stating earlier this year that he had convinced Clinton to declassify UFO files if she takes power. In 2002, he openly advocated for the public release of documents on Area 51.

In the latest batch of emails released by WikiLeaks, Podesta was asked by author and Apollo museum curator Robert Fish to discuss how “hard scientific data” can be collected on UFOs.

“Based on significant personal experience, I can attest that UFO hunters are looking in the wrong places.” Fish told Podesta in the 2015 mail.

Podesta declined to meet with Fish, but said he will keep his contact information.

Implicit between the lines here is that there is a religious dimension to the UFO phenomenon, but again, details on any specifics are not forthcoming. There is, of course, the usual claptrap from government think tanks and so on that the idea of extraterrestrial intelligent life would be a threat to various religious fundamentalisms. But the last time I checked, both Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have long understood and held that there are other forms of intelligent life besides humanity. Even Christ hints of it in the statement “I have other sheep not of this fold.”

Equally disturbing is the Vatican’s alleged involvement. The history, and claims, of the papacy are there for all to see, consider Boniface VIII’s bull Unam Sanctam for example; indeed, the universal claims of that institution and the tyrannical and oftentimes barbarous nature of its government and institutions led to the Protestant revolt in the 16th century, and to its excommunication by the Orthodox Church in the 11th. Why would this institution be chosen either by the powers that be or by ETIs – especially non-violent ones – for a “disclosure” event? It would seem, once again, that we are chin-to-chin with the moral dissonance phenomenon again, and in that, there is the dangerous possibility of great deception.

Yesterday and the day before, you’ll recall, I blogged about two strange statements coming out of the Middle East, the first from Russian Major General Igor Konshenko, and the second, appearing two days prior to Konshenkov’s remarks, from Iraqi Tansportation Minister Kazem Finjan. General Konshenkov made strange statements – clearly intended for Washington’s benefit (and perhaps for someone else’s as well) – that the Russian air and missile defense systems in Syria were operational, and that their range and capability to take out “all unidentified flying objects” would be a “surprise” to Washington (and whomever else the message was intended for). Minister Finjan, two days previously to this, made even stranger comments, based on the works of Zechariah Sitchin which he specifically referenced, that Iraq had been home to “extraterrestrial” spaceports some 7000 years ago. Prior to this, I noted, there were warnings from Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, that “tectonic” consequences would ensue if Washington continued on its warpath, and I suggested she was literally referring to earthquake weapons and other non-conventional weapons of mass destruction, other than the well-known triad of nuclear, biological, or chemical WMDs.

Howsoever one parses these statements, they clearly carried deeper possible interpretations than the merely conventional or prosaic. These three statements, coming in such quick succession and in more or less the same temporal and geopolitical context, suggest that there is a much deeper, much more hidden, much more “non-conventional” reading of events in the Middle East than meets the eye.

With this backdrop in mind, I want to consider the following article by one of my favorite commentators and researchers, F. William Engdahl, shared by Mr. C.S.:

The Eurasian Century is Now Unstoppable

While there’s much food for thought in this article, I want to draw attention to one crucial observation that Mr. Engdahl makes:

The totality of the strategy behind Xi Jinping’s Eurasian One belt, One Road rail, sea and pipeline initiative, which is moving quietly and impressively forward, is transforming the world geopolitical map. In 1904 a British geographer, Sir Halford Mackinder, a fervid champion of the British Empire, unveiled a brilliant concept in a speech to the London Royal Geographical Society titled the Geographical Pivot of History. That essay has shaped both British and American global strategy of hegemony and domination to the present. It was complemented by US Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan’s 1890 work, The Influence of Sea Power Upon History, which advocated “sea power,” stating that nations with domination of the seas, as the British Empire or later the USA, would dominate the world.

The One Belt, One Road, by linking all the contiguous land areas of Eurasia to the related network of strategic new or enlarged deep-water ports of OBOR’s Maritime Silk Road, has rendered US geopolitical strategy a devastating blow at a time the hegemony of America is failing as never in its short history. The Eurasian Century today is inevitable and unstoppable. Built on different principles of cooperation rather than domination, it just might offer a model for the bankrupt United States and the soon-bankrupt European Union, to build up true prosperity not based on looting and debt slavery.

Indeed, the Silk Road project does outflank MacKinder, for it effectively makes the Eurasian “world Island” impervious to sea power interdiction, the very basis of British, and now American, power and policy.

“Space Economist” Molly Macauley Murdered

This strange story was shared by Ms. K.M., and given our space focus this week, a brief look is in order:

Molly K. Macauley, researcher on economics and space science, dies at 59

I want to concentrate on the first four paragraphs here:

Molly K. Macauley, a vice president for research at Resources for the Future, a Washington-based think tank that studies environmental and economic policy, died July 8 in Baltimore. She was 59.

She was stabbed while walking her dogs near her home in Baltimore’s Roland Park neighborhood and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died. According to the Baltimore Sun newspaper, it was the first homicide in the upscale neighborhood since 1998.

“Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate this case,” Baltimore police spokesman Jeremy Silbert told the Sun.

Dr. Macauley was considered a national leader in the field of environmental economics and helped lead research projects on space, renewable energy, new technologies and natural resources. After joining Resources for the Future in 1983, she developed a specialty in linking economics with space science. Her scholarly interests extended to space stations and eliminating debris in space, as well as commercial opportunities associated with space travel.

In a period that has seen the more-than-suspicious deaths of a lawyer who served a class action suit against the Democratic National Committee for obvious pro-Sanders bias, the equally suspicious deaths of Seth Rich and Victor Thorn, the death of Babylon Five actor and talk show host Jerry Doyle in his Vegas home, and the death of newly-appointed US Space commander Major General John Rossi, I cannot help but think that the sad death of this obviously attractive lady might at least be connected with the latter.

There are a number of questionable points in what little facts are related in this article: (1) Ms. Macauley was walking her dogs when she was stabbed. So the first question, as Ms. K.M. pointed out to me, was what happened to the dogs? Their presence, and the violent manner of her death, suggest that whoever did the killing was known to her, since a stranger doing such might have easily been attacked by the dogs trying to defend their mistress.

Concerning those dogs, the Baltimore Sun indicated that they were not small dogs:

At night before going to bed, she walked the couple’s two dogs, Wilga, a 71/2-month-old white-and-cream colored wolfhound, and Leo, a dark brown 70-pound Plott hound with a “booming voice. One of the strongest dogs I’ve ever seen,” said Mr. Lasky.

A large 70 pound dog, about which nothing more is said in relation to the murder, raises the stakes, for it does indeed suggest that the murder was known to Dr. Macauley, and perhaps a familiar “scent” to her dogs as well.

(2) Dr. Macauley was linking economics (and therefore, presumably finance) to space issues. And this suggests that Macauley might have run afoul of financial and space interests that did not like where she was going. The question is, where was Dr. Macauley going? A few answers are suggested here:

You’ll note her specialties:

Macauley was a valued member of the space policy community for decades and renowned for her expertise on the economics of satellites, especially in the earth observation arena. Her professional portfolio was much broader, however, including the use of economic incentives in environmental regulation, climate and earth science, and recycling and solid waste management.  She testified before Congress many times and was the author of more than 80 journal articles, books, and book chapters.

She was Vice President for Research and a Senior Fellow at Resources for the Future, a Washington-based think tank that focuses on the economics of natural resources.  She was a past member of the Space Studies Board (SSB) and of the Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board (ASEB) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and served on many of its study committees.  She was a member of the steering committee for the ongoing Decadal Survey for Earth Science and Applications from Space at the time of her death.

Earth observation satellites… perhaps Dr. Macauley had “seen something” or learned something she was not supposed to see or learn. Additionally, her focus on the economics of space development and satellites – a specialized field in which she had made a definite mark – suggests that this may have been a prime motivation for the murder. There are the usual theories, including speculation that her murder was racially motivated, but in a period of time that has seen the death of Major General Rossi, I’m not convinced.

There’s something here, but the media is being typically short on analysis and facts, and I don’t know about you, but that raises my suspicion meter into the red zone. And perhaps…

Joint Russo-American Space Projects Are Becoming More Detailed

Recall that yesterday I blogged about an article that was sent to me by Mr. T.M., and about my hypothesis that with nationalist trends on the rise globally, that Mr. Global might be signaling shifts in the strategy, from a bottom-up Earth-based approach, to a top-down space-based approach. Well, with that in mind, consider this article, also shared by Mr. T.M.:

Russian and US engineers plan manned moon mission

In the light of my hypothesis, consider the following statements :

Both American and Russian organizations are considering ways to return to space together, as long as the political relationship between the two nations doesn’t deteriorate. The countries had been preparing to part ways after the ISS ceases operation in 2024.

NASA is developing its Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System (SLS), a super-heavy rocket to be used for manned missions into space, possibly as far as Mars. NASA is also giving funds to companies like SpaceX to make excursions into orbit with reusable rockets.

A few years ago, the European Space Agency, (ESA) joined with NASA in a maintenance agreement to service the Orion propulsion module. But Russia, the second largest contributor to ISS, hasn’t made any commitments beyond the time when its current obligations to the station are complete.

Russia’s recent economic issues are said to have somewhat stymied the nation’s space ventures, but the largest obstacle to space cooperation may be Moscow and Washington’s current contentious relationship. Engineers at Roskomos (the Russian space agency) and NASA are working together, while traversing the problematic political terrain of their respective governments.

Russian space contractors, such as RKK Energia and GKNPTs Khrunichev, along with American companies like Lockheed Martin and Boeing, are developing several tentative missions in which both nations cohabitate in cislunar space near the Moon. Such missions may lay the groundwork for mining missions to asteroids.

Russian technologists are known to be deft at operating and developing space modules designed to sustain propulsion, as well as creating house crews, exactly the expertise the US needs. That sort of module would increase the Orion crew’s living capacity beyond the small one-room compartments currently in use.

When consulting with their American counterparts, the Russians showcased hardware that will soon be available for building deep-space living quarters. For instance, ISS’s small docking compartment, built by RKK Energia, could be adapted as a 10-ton addition to the habitat, and would include cargo space, sleeping quarters and a discrete life-support system. (Emphasis added)

But now I want you to perform a thought experiment: take that line in the first paragraph that I have italicized, and change it to this: “Both American and Russian organizations are considering ways to return to space together, because the political relationship between the two nations continues to deteriorate.” With that change in mind, read the remainder of the quotation above, and you get the idea: major global corporations like Lockheed Martin and Boeing are teaming up with their Russian counterparts Energia to design a permanent space station in orbit between the Earth and  the moon as a large-scale permanent human presence and as a steppingstone  to permanent human colonies on that planet.
