  1. As a youngster I saved my weekly allowance ($.25). And every two weeks for years I spent twenty cents to take the streetcar round trip to the public library. The hardest part was leaving! It’s a veritable plethora! I love your library image. Second to a meditation room, the library would be my favorite place. You can easily learn so much about a person by checking out their library! !Plato!

    1. Very much so. Your story is quite remarkable. It goes to show how much times change. In fact, it worries me a bit that tangible books seem to be going out of ‘style’ per se. Not that digital books aren’t useful, am sure they are, and they save space. But nothing can replace reading a real book. Not only that, people learn more from that, then they do from reading from a digital one. Studies have shown this. Really need to do a write up about it because its fairly important.

In any case, all the work that you did to get to the library shows how much you loved it and how much value it gave you. It’s really awesome to hear that. And yeah, that guy named Plato certainly new a thing or two about life, didn’t he? Bet his library was quite substantial!

  2. Much as I like reading I don’t go in for E-books at all. There’s nothing like a “real” book. Having now settled I am building a library according to my means. Public libraries are a great resource, but having a library at hand and at home is a real treasure. Someone once said to me that a book is a friend for life. Mind you, I like people too!

    1. Sage words. Definitely agree with what you say and resonates quite well. Having a library at home is definitely something that hopefully more people consider in the future, especially since decades from now older books will be harder to hide and much more newer [and even some older books] will be digitized. Nothing beats reading a real book.
